Possible New Medieval Items Discovered on Webkinz Newz

While browsing through the pictures on the Webkinz Newz (www.webkinznewz.com) site today, Webkinz Insider members mills96er and ClaraZ25 made some interesting discoveries.  In the preview for the rare Royal Estate Bed, mills96er spotted a unicorn shield, a lion shield, and a bear tapestry.  In the preview for the Medieval Stone Column, ClaraZ25 spotted a pig shield, a bear shield, and a pig tapestry.  Could these new items be coming to Webkinz World in the future?

 

NOTE:  In response to the comments we have been getting.  The Medieval Unicorn Tapestry (not the shield pictured) was a prize in a Kinzville Newz contest last year.  The Medieval Lion Tapestry (also not pictured) is a Rare item.

New Gem Hunt Feature -- Arte Tells You How Many You Have!

Another new feature was added with this morning's maintenance in Webkinz World.  One of the users of our forum, totallyaddicted, was the first to notice that your gem count was added to the decision page in Gem Hunt!

In the past, you could always check the number of each gem in your gem box, you couldn't check it when Arte asked you to make a decision on whether to keep or sell the gem.  Now, it displays clearly underneath the gem and you can decide whether or not to keep it or sell it and there's no need to keep track of it on a list as many of our users have done! Thanks to Ganz programmers for adding this feature to Gem Hunt!

Hockey Theme Retires From Curio Shop

For the first time ever, a set of "Curio Shop Only" items is being retired from the Curio Shop.  Arte will no longer be selling the furniture from the Hockey Theme in his store.  As many of you will remember, the Hockey Theme used to be available in the wShop, but for the past year or so it has only been available in the Curio Shop.  Now that Arte is no longer selling this theme, that means it has been retired from Webkinz World.

 

The items in the retired Hockey Theme are: Goalie Mask Shelf, Helmet Lamp, Hockey Bed, Hockey Chair, Hockey Coffee Table, Hockey Couch, Hockey Desk Chair, Hockey Dining Table, Hockey Flooring, Hockey Locker, Hockey Side Table, Hockey Study Desk, Hockey Table, Hockey Wallpaper, and Scoreboard Television.

Pricing Increase on Experiment Station 4 in the Curio Shop!

This morning, the members in our rare tracking thread noticed that the price on the Experiment Station 4 has increased to K$ 1250 from its original price of K$ 1150.  Thanks to Webberlily for the following image from her account showing that the Experiment station 4 sells back to the W Shop for K$ 625, while the other 3 all sell back for K$ 575.

Apparently Arte's having a hard time with his vendors on the Experiment Station 4, but it appears that the other 3 have remained at the K$ 1150 price based on the sell-back price.  We're not sure if this is a glitch or intended difference at this point, but something worth noting and keeping an eye on!

Webkinz Insider Updates Rare Items Display!

I've been wanting to update the rares display for a very long time on WI and just never could find a way that was as visually-pleasing as I wanted and uncomplicated enough for manual entry.  I finally broke down and spent the last few days on coding a new rare entry and notice generation script!

Now, a WI staff member needs to only enter the Curio Shop rare data once and the system takes care of the rest, with a nice graphical display! Our Curio Shop Tracking Tool is also integrated into this new entry mode, so that data will become useful to everyone once again as well.
 
A few functions that you may not notice at first.  The name of each rare item can be found by putting your mouse over the image in question.  The rares for the entire day will be visible until the clock in that time zone turns to midnight, so members can see if they've missed any rares earlier in the day. Finally, whenever each time zone has a rare in the Curio Shop, the text above and below the image will turn red, giving everyone on the forum a heads up that something rare is available in the Curio Shop during that hour!

Colossal Movie Screen Coming to Arte's Curio Shop!

With the update to Webkinz World this morning, quite a few changes have been made and we'll be blogging about them all day.  We wanted to get this article out as quickly as possible so everyone can start saving their Kinz Cash!
 
Ganz has added a new rare item to the Curio Shop -- The Colossal Movie Screen -- and it's colossal both in size AND in price! We're unsure as to when it will appear, but we wanted to give everyone advance warning of the 40,000 Kinz Cash price tag.  Yep, that's 4 zeros after the 4!

Congratulations to CassieLouWho and Lemony BOTH who submitted these pictures of the NEW Rare that has yet to be seen in The Curio Shop. As most of you are all aware, this NEW Rare comes with a HEFTY price tag of 40,000 KinzCash. Unannounced Update Brings New Adoption Exclusives and Much More

Sometime during the early morning, Ganz processed an un-announced system update.  This system update brought some really awesome changes to Webkinz World.
 
  • The second half of the Grocery Store theme has been added to the wShop.
  • There are five new Exclusive Items (Gas Pump, Moon Rover, School House Desk, Seaside Palace Sandcastle, and Time Warp Clock) and one new Pet of the Month item (Magic Genie Lamp).
  • Five older exclusives have been retired and are no longer available as adoption gifts:  Large Paned Window, Jelly Cactus, So Mod Moped, Toadstool Table, and Blue Wagon.
  • There are six New Kinzpost Stationary Pages for writing letters to your friends.  
  • There are three new wrapping papers for you gifts to send, plus a Deluxe Wrapping for Deluxe members.
  • The Woodland Wonders has a new item to search for, a Plush Fairy doll.
  • The Curio Shop has undergone a Re-vamp and now includes a section specifically for Deluxe members.  It appears Deluxe members will now have access to more items for sale in the Curio Shop, including Rare items, than regular members.

Deluxe Curio Shop Update Explained

There has been some confusion in the forum over what today's update to the Curio Shop means for Webkinz players.  So, to try to clear things up, here is a quick summary of the changes:
 
Instead of having twelve items for sale each hour, Arte now has twenty-four items for sale.  However, only members with Deluxe Webkinz memberships are able to see all twenty-four items at the same time.  If a member with a regular Webkinz membership wants to view all twenty-four items, he/she will have to log out of Webkinz World and log back in again.  Since the items are organized randomly, it may take several tries to get a look at them all.
 
This is going to be very important when Rare items are for sale in the Curio Shop.  If you have a regular Webkinz membership, when it's time for Arte to have a Rare item for sale, it may not be visible at first.  You may have to go through the process of logging out and logging back in several times to get the Rare item to show up.  Members with regular Asian accounts reported being able to do this with Wednesday's 10pm Rare item, the Egyptian Vase.
 
According to the Webkinz Newz, "Deluxe Members will get an extra rare each day in the Curio Shop."  Based on what we have seen in Webkinz World today, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Webkinz Creative Director Addresses Curio Shop Changes

Webkinz Insider was contacted by the Webkinz Creative Director this evening regarding the recent problems players have been having with the Curio Shop.  According to him "The logging-in-and-out randomness was a bug, not intended.  It should be fixed now.  Regular members will see the same 12 every time, and the Deluxe bonus items will only be available to Deluxe members."
 
As of the 10pm KT rare this evening (Wednesday) on American accounts, we were still getting reports from members that Arte was telling them they had "come at the right time" for a rare, but there was no rare in the Curio Shop.  Some were able to get the Egyptian Vase to show up after logging out of Webkinz World and back in again, but many were not.  Hopefully the Creative Director's statement means that the programming has been fixed, and we will see the results after this evening's maintenance.  
 
At this point, we are not certain how, when we ask Arte for the rare time, he will let us know what rare items will be available to everyone, and what rare items will only be available on Deluxe accounts.  We will continue working on this mystery and will bring you the latest information as it becomes available.  
 
UPDATE (Thursday morning):  We are hearing from our members that the "bug" has not been fixed.  Members with Asian accounts are reporting that Thursday's 12pm, 4pm, and 10pm rares showed up in the "Regular" section for some players and in the "Deluxe" section for other players.  Logging in and out is still getting the items to move around.  And, even if you have a regular account that doesn't show a Rare item, Arte is still saying he has a Rare item for sale.
