Pet Retirement

 

Have you been looking for a Lil Kinz Unicorn to add to your Webkinz family?  You may be in luck.  Ganz has announced that as part of their "value priced" line of Webkinz they will be releasing a set of "Faves".  This set, expected at Webkinz retailers in August 2009, contains the Lil Kinz Unicorn.

 

As most of you know, the Lil Kinz Unicorn was officially retired by Ganz back in December 2007, over 18 months ago.  Although it is still marked as "retired" on the Webkinz World site, we are hearing from Retailers that is is no longer marked as retired on the Retailer site.  

 

What does this mean for the status of the Lil Kinz Unicorn?  At this point, we are not certain.  In an interview Webkinz Insider had with the Webkinz Creative Director back in November 2007, the Creative Director said "retired is retired".  We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

 

Thank you to our friends at Ameriwade (www.ameriwade.com) for alerting us to the fact that Ganz has officially retired the Webkinz Manatee.  At the moment, this plushie can still be ordered by retailers, so you should be able to pick them up for a little while, but once they are gone, that will be it.

 

 

Speaking of retired Webkinz, many of you have been asking about the status of the Lil Kinz Unicorn.  The Lil Kinz Unicorn was officially retired by Ganz in December 2007.  In July we brought you the news that Ganz was releasing the Lil Kinz Unicorn as part of a "Faves" assortment of Lil Kinz and that they had removed the Lil Kinz Unicorn from the Retailer Retirement Report.  As of today, the "Faves" assortment is no longer available to retailers, but retailers can still order the Lil Kinz Unicorn.  Also, the Lil Kinz Unicorn is still missing from the Retailer Retirement Report (shown below).

Thanks to our retail partner at Ameriwade.Com, we can bring you the news that the Webkinz Lava Dragon, this year's seasonal pet for Halloween has been officially retired and marked "Sold Out" by Ganz! This means retailers will not get a re-order of this Webkinz.

 

 

If you haven't picked one up this year, make sure you grab the chance now, so you can have the Molten Magma Bed and Magical Magma Marshmallows. As we all know, the Webkinz Sherbet Bunny and Webkinz Love Puppy were both seasonal Webkinz that were retired, and are increasingly rare and more valuable!

On the WebkinzNewz site, today, it was announced that the recently introduced Triceratops is being retired. As many of us know here, sometimes, Ganz makes just a short run of pets and when they are sold out, they are retired. It seems that this little fellow was quite popular and such is the case. If you have any stores near you with the Triceratops, I would say get this special one of a kind buddy now.

Ganz has announced that the Kangaroo is retiring and like Sea Otter, will be having that free collectible retirement cupcake for everyone on July 10th! If you own the Kangaroo, you will be able to participate in special events during the day.
