Webkinz Rare=Mon, Nov 26=No Rares, Sorry!
Arte’s just closing up after the last customer, and I’m sitting at a sacred scribe desk, scribbling away on a long scroll of paper.
“Hey, Merthyn, are you writing your list for Santa?” Arte asks, looking over my shoulder.
“No, these are all my ideas for Ganz to add to Webkinz World. I thought maybe I’d try to narrow it down a bit but I keep thinking of more fun things. See?” I hand him the list.
“Wow. You’ve got a lot of ideas here.”
“Yep, 644 ideas to be exact. I counted twice.” I notice Arte has kind of a funnyexpression on his face. “What’s wrong? Aren’t they good?”
“Oh, they’re terrific. I’m just afraid you’ll overwhelm the folks at Ganz if you send them this many all at once. Maybe you should just send one at a time.Which one do you want most?”
I think about that. “An ice skating rink,” I decide. “The sliding glitch made me really think about it. Exercise is important, after all, and it could be really inexpensive. It’d be great to have a big rink where we could skate with all our friends, but, for starters, Ganz could let all the oak pools freeze over like ponds do in the winter and we could skate on those. I’d really like to be able to learn how to do jumps like the skaters on t.v. It looks like so much fun!”
Arte smiles fondly. “Actually, it is.”
“Arte, you know how to skate and jump?”
“Oh, sure. I can do all kinds of spins, too. See, I spent some time in Russia when I was a pup. My dad had a job there for a while, cataloging some items for a museum. I helped him as much as I could, but growing pups need exercise, so he sent me to skating school.”
“That must have been so exciting!”
“Oh, it was, though it was hard work, too. Back in those days, you had to learn how to skate figure patterns, and that takes lots of time and practice. I did get good at lutz and loop jumps, though, and I had a great sit spin, if I do say so myself.”
“If Ganz ever makes ice rinks, will you teach me?”
“Sure, I will. Although,” he says, thinking about it, “why wait? I bet if you put on some of those moccasins from the W-shop and we went on a hockey floor, I could at least get you started on footwork, especially cross-overs. Those are great to help you build up speed and power before jumps.”
“Really? Wow! You’re the best, Arte!” I yell, already out the door and off to buy moccasins.
Oh, I almost forgot the list for tomorrow. Here it is! By the way, Arte does have a great sit spin...do you think it's because he's a dog?
