Webkinz Rare = Friday, July 20th 8pm = Regal Flame Lamp $925
"Merthyn, can you come over here a moment? I need to have a word with you about something." Arte calls to me from the front of the shop.
"Hmmm, this is strange."
Arte has a serious tone in his voice that I don't think I have ever heard before.
"Maybe he is going to tell me about something really, really cool that is coming out soon." I think.
I reach the counter and Arte says. "Merthyn, I hate to have to talk to you about this, but I've had some complaints from my customers about you and I think we need to address your recent behavior."
My recent behavior?"
"I thought you were happy with my work here at the Curio Shop."
"This has nothing to do with what you do here at the shop. This is about what you do when you're not here."
I stare at him with a bewildered look on my face.
He continues, "I have had a large number of people tell me that you have been going around Webkinz World, making a big deal about the fact that you and I are friends and you can get inside information. Now, I know that there are a lot of people out there who think our friendship is a cool thing, but going around and bragging about it is just plain rude."
Dumbfounded, I try to respond, "Arte, I swear, I haven't been doing any bragging. Who has been saying these things about me?"
Just then the front door to the shop opens and a woman walks in. "Hey there Arte. You got any good sales today?"
"What you see is what I've got. You know that, Haley."
"Ok, thanks." She smiles at Arte and starts to look around at the items in the shop.
Arte looks over at me and then turns back to Haley. "I was just telling Merthyn about the complaints I have been getting about him. Would you mind telling him what you told me?"
She looks back at Arte and me and says, "Sure, where is he?"
"He's right here," Arte points at me.
"Ha, ha. Arte. You're funny." She laughs. "That's not Merthyn."
Arte and I look at each other. "Yes, I am Merthyn. Who did you think I was?"
"No, you can't be Merthyn. The Merthyn I know is a lot shorter, a lot younger, and a lot more annoying. In fact, he was just in the arcade earlier telling everyone how important he was. It was a real turn off."
"Haley, THIS is Merthyn, and he has been here with me all morning." Arte says.
"Wow, who do you suppose that other guy is then?" she responds.
"I don't know. But I am certainly going to find out." I storm out of the shop.
Well guys, it looks like Hannah Montana and I may have something in common after all.
I know some people say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I think it's just plain annoying.
Here's the list. I'm off to the arcade to do some detective work...
