The Webkinz Cares Program has officially kicked off in Webkinz World.  You may remember our report a couple of weeks ago about the strange red tags some of our members were finding on Lil Kinz at Walgreens.  We have learned $1.00 from each sale of these special Lil Kinz goes to support the Webkinz Foundation, an organization created by Ganz which "is dedicated to improving the welfare, development, health, and safety of children." 

These special red tags contain a code that can be used in the Code Shop.  Activating a code will win you a Secret Recipe, some KinzCash, and one, two, or more of the new W-Cares Prizes.  It will also unlock a W-Cares Game that you can play once a day for five days.  The game gives you more chances at winning some of the W-Cares Prizes and some other Webkinz World items.

For every prize you win, an identical prize will be awarded to a random member in Webkinz World.  It could be someone you know, but most likely it will be someone you don't know.

This is even better than the ExtravaGANZa which was so fun! I love all of these items and I love the lil' cocker spaniel I got the virtual prizes I got was the teddy bear and the outdoor statue

you have to buy a special kind of webkinz with a w cares tag on them (they are red)at walgreens and when you register it you get some of those items, kinzcash, and a game.

I bought the lil cocker spaniel off of ebay and it was shipped yesterday and yes it comes with the w-cares code i will comment back when i get it and what i get with it,i want the bear,painting,sofa,tv,placemat,balloon.

This is cool. I have never seen or bought at Webkinz at Walgreen, but I will be sure to look now. I like that they are going to give a prize to someone else on Webkinz World . This is cool. I stopped in at Walgreens last Wednesday and got two lil cocker spaniels, but they also had gold and white cats and elephants (also lil kinz) and they had the red tags too... so I got two of each, one for my account and one for my daughter's. Love all the prizes... may have to go get a few more webbies...

My eight year old proposed this idea

My little boy wrote to Howard Ganz with this very idea of a charitable foundation except it was to create a special love koala and have a dollar go to koalas instead of Walgreens charities. He got a a polite brush off letter from a coporate person which made him a little sad :cry. It is heartening to see someone "adopted the idea and adapted it for some benefit. I hope they got a promotion out of it.
