Webkinz World was shut down early on Thursday morning for scheduled maintenance and when it came back online, there were quite a few changes, starting with a new Pet of the Month item, the Carnival Strength Tester!
Many of the users from our Webkinz Forum have noticed that the Carnival Strength Tester has magically appeared in their docks, which we believe is a result of the events from a few weeks ago when people were not receiving their Pet of the Month items in their loot bags. If you click on it, it lights up the lights around it, just like the actual machine at carnivals! Here's a picture of mom2tc's Carnival Strength Tester in her room!
We had heard that customer service representatives at Webkinz were telling some users that they had been awarded their Pet of the Month item, but it was invisible until it was added into Webkinz World. It appears they were exactly correct! If you activated a Pink Poodle earlier in the month and thought you didn't receive your Pet of the Month item, take a look in your dock!
With the addition of the multiple language translations to our Webkinz forum, we've also added an iPhone/mobile compatible skin to our forum! Use any iPhone, iPod Touch or mobile web device to access the forum, and it will automatically switch you to the iPhone skin, reformatting the forum to fit better and load faster on your iPhone or mobile web device!
Over the past few months, as Webkinz has gone worldwide we have noticed that we receive visitors from all over the world, countries such as the Netherlands, Panama, Egypt, Greece, China, France, Saudi Arabia, Chile and more! We realize that many of the users from these countries may not speak English as their first language, so we are now offering a translation option on our threads in the forum!
By clicking the language button and selecting a language from the list, a window will pop-up and run the thread through Google's translation service in the language of your choice. Here is the result of one of my own posts when selecting Chinese! We hope this will help those of you out there who do not speak English natively!
At this point, we have added: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Dutch. If there's another language that you'd like to see, just let us know!
One of the members in our Webkinz forum, 2greatkidz, reported that her daughter won 3rd place in the 10:00pm beauty pageant on Saturday night!
They received a third place bronze medal and $1000 Kinz Cash for winning and she was able to provide us with a screenshot of it in her dock. The medal can be hung on the wall, but she found that it was easier to show us in her dock!
Everyone congratulate 2greatkidz's daughter for being the first WI member (or relative of!) to win a medal in the Webkinz Stadium!
Many of us have yet to get in to the Webkinz Stadium, but for those that are still trying, make sure to attend classes at the Webkinz Academy. The skills your pet learns at the Academy determine your performance in the Webkinz Stadium!
We've received some information from a user in our Webkinz Forum, Flame Boy. She gave us a few screenshots and her story detailing them:ok, i am trying to create a new room, so i am emptying one out. every time i try to click on an item, it actually selects a different item for me to remove. that is fine i have all the items out except for the last window... but here is the interesting part,
every time that i click on the window, it actually selects the door!! it lifts up like an item does when you select it and it gives me an option to move or remove it!!! if i choose to remove it, webkinz world freezes and boots me out, but i can move it as shown in the pics below... and once i select ok, is disappears! has this happened to anyone else???
As you can see from the pictures, and read from her story, the doors appear to be moveable around the room and removable entirely! While it is certainly a glitch that the door is being picked up when the window is clicked on, we believe that the ability to move and remove doors from your room is a functionality that will soon be added to Webkinz World.
If you all remember the interview with the Webkinz Creative Director, this specific question was asked, and I've included it below.
Question 1 -- Asked by multiple About rooms: Will we ever be able to enlarge our room size (after they are bought or after adoption) and/or move/sell them? Further, will we ever be able to move/eliminate doors?
While I can’t go into the exact details of what we have planned, more control over your house layout is something that we’ve put a lot of thought into and is something that we definitely want to add to Webkinz World. We know that our fans put a lot of effort into designing their homes and we have a number of upgrades planned (including some you’ll really be surprised by).
From this story and these pictures, it appears that this is one of the "upgrades", but that it is still a little glitchy. If this is truly an upgrade, it is great news for those who are really into room decorating in Webkinz World!
