The Webkinz Cares Program has officially kicked off in Webkinz World. You may remember our report a couple of weeks ago about the strange red tags some of our members were finding on Lil Kinz at Walgreens. We have learned $1.00 from each sale of these special Lil Kinz goes to support the Webkinz Foundation, an organization created by Ganz which "is dedicated to improving the welfare, development, health, and safety of children."
These special red tags contain a code that can be used in the Code Shop. Activating a code will win you a Secret Recipe, some KinzCash, and one, two, or more of the new W-Cares Prizes. It will also unlock a W-Cares Game that you can play once a day for five days. The game gives you more chances at winning some of the W-Cares Prizes and some other Webkinz World items.
For every prize you win, an identical prize will be awarded to a random member in Webkinz World. It could be someone you know, but most likely it will be someone you don't know.

It looks like the programming for the Pink Googles hasn't been fully updated, so "Blush" is invisible right now, but we are able to show you "Queenie" posting next to the Siamese Cat's Pet Specific Item, the Stylish Siamese Settee and next to the Pink Googles' Pet Specific Item, the Googles Gem Zen Garden. Also, the special foods for the Siamese Cat and the Pink Googles are Succulent Tureen Of Sardine and Jumbled Googles Caboodles.

In Webinz World today, Ganz announced a new "Ad Policy" that will affect the appearance of third-party (non Ganz) advertisements in Webkinz World. Some of you may remember the two ad campaigns that have run in WW, one for the Bee Movie and one for the Alvin and the Chipmunks Movie. Even fewer of you may remember our story about this option appearing in one of our moderator's (morganannie at the time) account nearly a year ago! In the policy statement, Ganz reaffirms it's commitment "to being responsible in [its] approach to advertising and the advertisers that [they] allow on the site." Also, a new "Opt Out" Choice has been added to Webkinz World accounts. If you don't wish to view these third-party advertisements, you can now choose to have them be blocked from your account. This option can be found next to the "Daily KinzCare" tab in the "My Pets" window. Once you select this option, the advertisements will be turned off. If you change your mind, you must wait at least 30 days to turn them back on again.
