Default PLEASE READ: WIKI and Member Contributions

Hello everyone,

There have been a few recent developments that the staff would like to address in regards to the WIKI and member behaviour. As many of you know, the WIKI is a member-based community project to compile as much information about Webkinz (and at times, Webkinz Insider) in one easy-to-access database for all players. We believe that the foundation of Webkinz Insider is the sharing of member knowledge, and this tool enables us to build on this knowledge in a new way. Sounds good? GREAT! Contribute! :thumb up:

Before you start, we would ask you to keep the following in mind:

1.) The WIGEV is still restricted to specific members in order to ensure quality updates. Please do not create tables with items and values in your sandbox or other areas of the WIKI. This has caused confusion in the past for trading members, and it is something we would like to avoid. TLDR version: Please don't create value charts for items.

2.) Every member is welcomed to contribute to the WIKI. You may update pictures to upload to the picture gallery, you may update WIKI pages to provide greater detail on how a game works, etc., you may build charts/tables for items to be listed in, you may add new pet information, etc. Anything that is unlocked you are free to contribute to.

3.) Members may ABSOLUTELY NOT stake claims on specific areas of the WIKI. If it is unlocked, anyone may contribute to the area. Another member may not you off for updating any part of the WIKI.

4.) You may NOT roll back a page simply to ensure you are the only one updating it (this is staking claims, not allowed).

5.) You may NOT bully another user. The WIKI is a public, member created, information database. Everyone gets to update each and every page (which is unlocked). If another member provides an update before you do, THANK THEM for their help, and move on.

6.) The only people who have a say on which behaviour is acceptable is our staff team of Moderators and Administrators. If you have a problem, REPORT IT. A.) Flag a post by that user. B.) explain you are having a WIKI issue. C.) Explain what the issue is. It is that simple.

Overall, I really want this one to hit home: You CANNOT tell a member NOT to update a page. Please, please, please, do not discourage people to contribute. The staff have been working very hard to encourage members to contribute to the WIKI and information around WI. That is what we have always been about~ our members have always created the most information/data available to Webkinz players.

You are not an authority figure over the WIKI anymore than you are on this forum. The WIKI SYSOP and WIGEV team have special privileges to ensure updates on select threads, and ensure an overall quality to each page. Our members are all EQUAL contributors to the WIKI. If you are found to be discouraging updates by others, or trying to make yourself an authority over other members (rude or not), you will be spoken to and requested to stop.

The WIKI is not about one, or two, members updating and running pages as they see fit. Everyone is welcomed, but all members are expected to uphold the standards of behaviour on WI.
