Exclamation Words to consider with much thought before using (or even not to use at all)

I've noticed an awful lot of hurt feelings in WI lately, and I wonder if words like "hate", "stupid", "dumb" and the like were disallowed in posts, would it make a difference?

Hate is a very strong word and should not be used lightly. As are any words that imply a lack of intelligence in others, whether those others are Ganz or members of this forum. Those some are very hurtful words.

I would be interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on this.

I am with you 100% and do you want to know what bugs me the most? When people just put a period or spaces between a word so it goes through on the forum and they can say it.

For instance, let's preted that "pig" is a bad word and we are not allowed to say it on the forum. If someone wanted to call me a "pig" then they could just say, "You are a p i g" or "You are a p.ig" or something of the sort.

This is my two cents and I really hope it get's fixed in the future.

Well, they're not that bad of words.
I think if they feel strongly about something they should say it.

I totaly agree with you both! The simple four letter word "Hate" can make someone have an awful day. There is no reason for members of the forum to say mean things to each other or about each other.

At least that is my opinion.

When I said you both I meant the first two posts (pandyma618 and i <3 webkinz!)

I totally agree 100% with you. All those words do is put people done and make them feel bad. Wow, that made me realize that i do all of that to my sister. I think I'll tell her I'm sorry. Like my mom always say "hate is for vegetables"

Hi gripperluverxxoo Thanks for your post. What I was trying to say, maybe not too successfully, is that when there is a difference of opinion, I wonder if there would be less hurt feelings if people could not say that someone else's opinion is "dumb" or "stupid" - because I know I would be crushed by a comment like that, and I am an adult.

Hate really is a very very strong word, not at all the same as disliking something; much as love and like are not at all the same.

Penguin Dictionary of Psychology defines hate as a "deep, enduring, intense emotion expressing animosity, anger, and hostility towards a person, group, or object."

Yea I know they are very hurtful, but like spacing the letters, they can say them in other ways too, and some people also have expanded vocabularies when it comes to mean words. So I guess we just need to watch out for this and do as we can to stop it.
