Default Re: Why is the ability to edit posts tied to becoming gifted?

Editing your posts is nescessary when it comes to being gifted and having a gift exchange, for you must be able to change the items on your list regularly with each trade, to take off what you no longer have and add additional items you my obtain. Which makes it nescessary for people who are gifted to be able to edit their posts.

On the other hand, I am not quite sure why people who aren't gifted can not edit their posts...maybe it just another perk, or maybe it's reasons about trust, as the people above me have posted.

I'm sure Justin has his reason

Well, it doesn't..but being "Gifted" is more then being able to trade. It's a ranking, and if you have to do a few things to be Gifted. 1st-you have to know how to become gifted. 2nd-you have to have over 50 posts in all different sections. So it makes alot of sense, ya see? -minigirl72

Why not keep the original post, and when editing, add on to it?? I don't know if this is possible, though, so...

Yes, I was wondering the same thing too. Maybe after you have been here for 2 weeks and have posted 50 messages thenn you can gain acess to edit your posts and be able to apply for the gift exchange! If you talked to Justin about I bet it would be great!!

it is because you are only allowed one gift exchange, so you need to be able to update it as needed. at least, i guess

I find it interesting that the editing of posts is tied to a post count at all, let alone Gifted Status. (Although the 'do you like to eat candy'...scenario is pretty funny!). I use a few message boards, one of which is identical to this framework (DIS Boards- basically for Disney travelers), and have never encountered an editing requirement. I dislike it due to the fact that I hate to find errors I should fix and not being able to correct them!! However, since I like how organized and well run this site is, I overlook that little peculiarity and pray that I don't miss too many of my typos before hitting POST.

Yeah, I really need to edit my posts sometimes. And like in a Siggy Shop or adding rooms and stuff, also.
