I am also extremely disappointed that there are viruses on here...
I am not sure if this would help, but if you use Firefox, there is something you can download that is called "Adblock." When you download it, it has many ads already blocked (but you can make it so you can see the ads you want, or block ads).
I am now no longer scared of accidentally clicking on an ad, but I'm not sure if somehow a virus can still get on my computer from them even if they are blocked/invisible?

Adblock is fantastic. I've used it (as well as firefox) for a long time now. Even though Justin doesn't approve of it, I'm sorry, it's the only way to be on WI and be safe......period.

If you are using FF with adblock, you should be safe. This particular virus is most likely to come thru IE due to a big security hole that IE has.....yet another reason why I prefer FF.

It sounds to me like spyware not actually viruses, I used to get tons of spyware dropped onto my computer without clicking on ads at all, if you go into your tools button, then go into your Internet options button then go into your privacy hit advanced and block third party cookies I no longer have almost any spyware ever make it into my system

Spyware is not actually a virus but it certainly can slow things down and give you a big ol' headache! And I also found downloading either one of the sites the above poster mentioned will clear out those spyware programs from your system, they are completely safe, I used to use these before I realized that blocking third party cookies eliminates most of this problem along with a good antivirus software

I just want to add in no way am I saying this isn't happening but this is just my experience doesn't hurt to give it a try

It IS a virus/malware/keylogger/spyware.....all of the above basically. Here is a quote from another site that describes this partcular virus that most people are getting from WI. This virus adds a file to your computer (which is hidden) called sdra64.exe. Here is the description:::

sdr64.exe is a file created by a malware having threat characteristics of ZBot - a banking trojan that disables firewall, steals sensitive financial data (credit card numbers, online banking login details), makes screen snapshots, downloads additional components, and provides a hacker with the remote access to the compromised system. Downloads/requests other files from Internet. Creates a startup registry entry. It is a keylogger and a backdoor trojan horse virus.

I believe someone already asked this but I did not see an answer- is this no longer a problem if you pay the subscription fee to get rid of ads--
and just as an FYI in searching the site since I recalled something being posted about this subject before- this was posted by Justin at the end of January- Google Glitch - "This Site May Harm Your Computer" - WebkinzInsider.Com
Hopefully he will see this thread and respond to the concerns

I am wondering, is it safe to come on here anymore? This is a brand new computer, because our other one crashed, and I do not want to ruin it.

Should I stop visiting this site? I do not want my personal information being displayed all over the internet.

I would hate to leave WI, but if I have to, I will.
Me too! I have 34. =[[ I got a bit freaked out too....
