If you have a "Keylogger" Virus, and you type your # when you have it, then yes your CC # could be stolen...But most Virus's do more infecting of files than stealing of info

They can steal any password, credit card numbers, etc. They have been know to take your PayPay and eBay passwords, too.

What's a good program to use to see if you have a keylogger virus? The "virus alert" page that popped up from the ad said I had a keylogger virus. I downloaded spybot from a suggestion on here but I don't know if it checks for keyloggers, trojans, or worms?

I've never encountered this problem as you have before. For me, sometimes when I come into , there is one ad that is completely random, and just shows up where my start windows thing is, in that gray-ish area. Not always, but just occasionally, typically after I log in so that's probably a reason to why I don't come on that much!

Oh My Jessbeans you do have a 'hidden' malware virus. you better run your hard drive virus cleanup... it is running in a hidden folder and some of those ads can get your passwords & anything you view or type etc. which ultimately can lead to identity theft

I had the same issues with a virus/ad on this site also but by virus protection blocks it and removes it, but you should always do a system clean up at least 1 time a week because of the sneaky ad/viruses they are on most sites you visit on the internet.
Just do not click on ads and links and let the complete page load before clicking on the next topic

We use AVG, it is great , it scans site before it connects to it and also blocks those virus/malware pop ups. What appears is the warning box that says it was a virus & blocked. AVG has what is called 'Active Surf-shield' & 'Search sheild':husky:it is a tool bar of it's own & works with your chosen browser.

Here is a website I found by doing a simple Google search. The virus I got on two computers was indeed called Spyware Protect 2009. If anyone else has seen this pop-up on their computer, please post here so we can get to the bottom of this. Webkinz Insider was the only website I was viewing at the time I got both attacks form this virus.

Here is the link. It provides a great screenshot of what the virus looks like when it pops up.

This is the virus that infected my computer but I was on a homeschool website looking for math pages for my youngest son. This virus is BAD. I ended up paying $200 for DELL to reformat my hard drive.

I've had this virus recently as well. I had to have my tech person at work remove it. I definitely got it while I was here at WI. Luckily she loaded Anti-Malware software onto my computer and was able to get rid of it. I keep being afraid that I'm going to get it again. I can't switch to Firefox because this is a work computer and although I can take it to and from work, I'm not allowed to load software on it.
