While it's a good idea, how about with so many WI Bucks we get a discount? Like 10,000 WI Bucks gives you a 10% off discount. The memberships help run WI itself. So instead of pretty much not making money for the site, discounts could be a win-win situation. More people get memberships at a better price, and WI still makes the money. Of course, discounts could only go so far and would stop at like 60%.. but still if it's $20 for a year (right? that's the price right?) and you get 60% off that is only like $8 for the entire year! That isn't even 3 cents a day!!
I love the idea!
This is perfect, except WI needs the money to help support it, although they could make the 'donate' button more noticeable... they could do, "want to make these ads go away? Use WI Bucks to be an Insider Insider! Want to help WI out? Donate to our site!"
.. but sorry, I am a very active member of WI and it has still taken 2 and a half months of meaningful posts to just get enough for only one week of Insider Insider at your proposed rates!!!.. ..but this an excellent idea (minus those rates! ) ...and I believe that such an idea has already been mentioned as a possible use for WI bucks from the inception of this WIBuck program.. Click HERE for the guide by Miss Gnomie and scroll way down and it is mentioned as something that Justin might give future consideration...here's an excerpt:
What is a WI subscription?
From what I understand you will be able to "subscribe" to WI like you do a magazine or something. There will be perks to this; I think some of the items mentioned are less ads - more PM space, a badge to say you've subscribed...
I'm not sure how this will fit in directly with the WI bucks yet - there could be a conversion or something to real $$ - but I'm sure Justin will be speaking to all of these & what the goals are of the two systems when the official guide (added section to the FAQ) comes out later ~

Now, I have asked my mom to be able to be an Insider Insider and she said no straight off the bat. I know my mom is not the only one and she kind of had a point.
School is starting in August and she doesn't want to waste the money.
But I still really want to be an Insider Insider and I know I'm not the only one.

I'm afraid that I disagree with your suggestion, and it's because of your second sentence. You asked your mom to become an Insider Insider and she said NO.
You should respect her decision and not try to think up ways to get around it. This is very irritating for parents. NO is NO. Whatever merit your suggestion might have, it was trying to get your mom to change her mind, and this is disrespectful. Just accept her decision, WI is very enjoyable even without the subscription.
