I love this idea! However, with other things there are a few reasons it won't work. The main reason being that not everyone is honest. There is no fullproof way to determine that whoever enters actually plays and receives that score. It would have to be an honest based system. And unfortunately, it leads into the one bad apple spoils the bunch. I'm not accusing anyone on here of possibly doing that, I'm just saying it is a possibility. And with the addition of an item, it makes it more possible that they would cheat. Plus, w-shop items might not seem like much of a cost, but when hundreds of members enter and need a prize it really adds up.
I think that maybe a thread hosted by a member would work. It wouldn't be for prizes, but rather for fun. The thread starter could come up with a goal for a specific game each week and members can post their scores and everyone can try and reach the goal in the spirit of fun, and not competing for prizes. I would definitely participate in a communal contest even if there were no prizes. It would be fun trying to reach a goal each week, plus there's tons of KC to be earned doing so.
Thanks for sharing your idea with us!
Just have a little skill with photoshop and you can make your score whatever you want in a screenshot.
instead of having it as a WI event, why dont you start something in the Contest: Members Food section like this? similar to a WNTM, and the whoever helped reached the goal gets a PSF of some sort? it wouldnt be worth the time to make up a score on photoshop, but there is still a prize and the goal doesnt have to be too extreme

You sort of have to shake your head for people who would do that -
they have no confidence in themself and will never know the true joy and satisfaction of accomplishment.
I believe most WI members are honest and want honest achievements.
You can't stop life for those few in this life who don't want to live/succeed truly/joyfully.

I think periodic contests are a great idea, but probably would have to be member
sponsored events - like some of the cheerleading threads during those old CCs.
If a few took it on, perhaps anyone meeting a goal could be put in a drawing for a prize,
whatever form that may take.
Good luck.

I like that! That is awesome! I may have to do that...
I'm sorry, but I don't support this idea at all. Here's why. 1. The WI Staff took WI Bucks as a prize out of regular contests, so why would they put them in communal contests. Also, I believe that screenshots aren't enough proof if it's to try to win a contest. They can easily be photoshopped. Screenshots are only good to show things when they can't be used as a way of proof for prizes. I only support this idea if it was for fun with no prizes.
I do not support the idea. Here's why. It would be a lot of work for the staff as it is, and it'll be too much to go to one thing after another. Thank you.
I support the idea of Communal Contests if someone volunteers to start a thread and take charge of it; however, I agree with those who say without prizes, for all the reasons mentioned above. I think there would be intangible prizes: the fun of working together for a common goal and practice in playing an unfamiliar game that may show up in the future as a requirement in a WW challenge (which would give us the tangible prize). Perhaps the high scorers could even share their tips with us low scorers.
