Some folks may be interested in what you have started but for whatever reason don't feel like they can add anything to it. Maybe they have seen it before, or maybe they don't know what to say, or maybe they just want to read, or maybe they lurk..whatever the reason is...they will not always post.
I only post when I can actualy contribute something...so that usually means reading (and viewing) the thread, but not actually posting. I think if we posted everywhere we went, there would be lots of fluff out there.
For example, if we posted a compliment on all the shop threads, but didn't actually order anything, the owner might think "No one orders, even though they visit the thread. My stuff isn't good."
And I only use the plus on threads with straightfoward titles, because sometimes what people are talking about gets off topic from the original thread, and just reading the first post and then posting would look...weird.
I agree with you on if you have something constructive to add, you can post and contribute. I never thought about the signature and av shops and saying that I like their graphics, although I'll admit that's not a forum I really visit. When I visit house threads, which is a forum I go to, I find something to say about their house that I like.
However, sometimes I go back to a thread again and again and again just to see responses that have happened after me. That will add to the viewing number.
Also, maybe I have clicked the plus button already, go in the thread, and see that someone has already said what I was going to say. I don't feel the need to quote their post and say, "I agree." and that's it. In my opinion, that's not contributing to anything, except to say that I agree. Especially if it's when I'm going to the Somebody Help section, and I view the thread, and see that someone has already given the answer. I don't want to say, "I agree with so and so." That's not helping at all...lol
But thanks again for the advice on the signature and av shops!
