I'm new here so I have to figure out a couple of things. Could anyone help me figure out the Webkinz Insider Gift Exchange? The way I'm interpretting it it sounds like a lot of work.

Welcome to WI! There is a thread at the top of the page and I'll give you some tips though! You MUST have ATLEAST 50 "non-fluff"(non fluff is helpful posts and they DON'T include thread posts thats the first post you made on this page) posts. And you must agree to some rules, hope you can become a gifted member soon!

Do you mean a lot of work compared to the trading room on WW?

Then yes, it is... you have to communicate, you have to negotiate a fair trade... you have to be polite, honest... you have to maintain your "store" and keep it updated etc... but, its MUCH more rewarding, you will make friends you never thought you could. you will make people so happy with your trades and people will make you so happy..... your trades wil be 100 times more fair than most of the trades that happen on WW

It isn't really a lot of work Just be a member for at least 2 weeks, get at least 50 informative/helpful posts, then read the rules and agree. An admin will look over you application and will either accept or deny. If they deny, you just keep making informative posts, and reapply. If they accept you, you will get a Gift Coach and they will teach/train you how to trade, and how to use the WIGEV, ect. It's reallly fun

Not really... I mean the base is he same, trading one item for another item... etc... but here there are rules to follow etc... trading is very fair, requires negotiation...

I completely agree! I have made some very, very, very good friends through WI's Gift Exchange that I probably would not have made otherwise. I'm so glad I joined! As legalcat said, it's a lot of work, but it's a lot of fun and very addictive, too! (She forgot to mention how addictive it is...LOL..I'm on here a lot more because of the GE, and because of the friends I make through that.)

Read above in my post, on what legalcat said. I would say no, because it's fair, a lot more fun, and just fantastic! You can communicate better on here.
If you mean is it where you exchange other WW items for other WW items, then yes, that's the same. I would say everything else is not.

Legalcat and Polarity gave great answers above... I just wanted to point -

That if you were curious, you can see the basics of the value system - it is public to everyone.

I love the gift exchange, it is more of a "community" then anything. People go out of their way to help others. . I think it is totally worth the "work" that you do to earn the status. But it sounds more like fun to me.

Also trading here is done through kinzpost, not IN the trade room...many people have thought the trade room is still involved to do the trading and it's not.
