| | Thought for Donating $
Most of you know about the massive Earthquake that just struck Haiti, and how many people are missing and/or have been killed. I was thinking if there was a possibility that WI as a community could try and raise money to send down to Haiti to use for medicine, food, water, and shelter for those who have lost everything. Maybe, for example, have something set up like the WI Donors, where for one week people may donate a set amount. Once you donate, you could receive a badge similar to the WI Donors badge.
Just a thought, let me know what you think.
Some facts about Haiti:
~Only 3% of the forest that covered the country 500 years ago remains today.
~The population is over 10million.
~The average Haitian makes only $790 US Dollars/year.
~In 2008, they were hit by four Hurricanes/Tropical Storms in as many weeks.
~Most buildings in Haiti are made of all cement, which just crumbled during the earthquake.
~Haiti, along with many other countries, are moving towards Africa at an average of 7 millimeters per year.
~Haiti is located in the middle of two plates, which means they experience earthquakes frequently, just not as big as this one.
