Hmm... I understand where you're coming from (and I must say, this is a very well put thread), but I really see no harm in, when you make a suggestion thread, posting on the thread to say 'thanks' when people say it's a great idea, etc. You're showing them that yes, you are reading their comments, and yes, you appreciate them.
i see were you are coming from...but i honestly see nothing wrong by doing this, you are merely showing publicly that you acknowledge your posters. sure, you can also give them a rep point, but posting that you apperciate their time is perfectly fine, to me
I have to agree with you, Zooz, that it is sort of like bumping a thread in a way, and I'm quite guilty of doing that myself. I do truly appreciate when people comment on my threads, so I like to acknowledge that thought, too. It also says to anyone reading "Yes, I am keeping up and checking for new posts, so if you write a reply, I will read it."
I completely understand what you're saying, but for recently posted threads, I think it's actually good for the owner to be keeping up with it. That way, you know if they have been actually reading your opinion on the subject.
Thanks so much for bringing this up!

I agree, but in some threads, an occassional 'thanks' post is needed. In my stories, I usually try to post a 'thank you' each time I log on just to let everyone know that I am reading their posts, and that I do care about their opinions.
Thanks, everyone. I like hearing different points of view. I guess I really meant threads where every other post is from the owner of the thread, saying, "Anyone else want to post about this?" I totally agree that we should be grateful to those who take the time to reply to our threads -- elsewise, WI would be a real snooze!
