I don't have thousnads of posts, I usually only post if I have something productive to add to a topic that I stumble across, If I have an answer that hasn't been answered already, if I have a question, or if I am in the mood to just be heard. This qualifies under none of the above.
Personally, if I happen to hit up a new section on WI I usually end up reading a longer thread that involves 3 or 4 people mass posting one sentance comments to eachother that usually don't follow the topic on hand.
So, I start reading a few pages and see the thread going no where and off topic, so I usually don't go back.
Just as example, figuring out recipes interests me a lot, but everytime I go there I end up reading 10 pages of chat and have no direction where to even start to do "my part". I usually don't have hours and hours to try to put together whats going on.
I'll admit, there are some sections I have visited once, seen the same few people just kinda chatting about something off topic, and don't return.
I don't blame them, they can post what and where they want. It usually just keeps me away.
Just like any Real Life community, you will have people that have thier interests, hobbies, etc., and they will spend time doing those certain things.
I have been part of many forums and all of them have the same "clique" mentality. It's understandable, not everyone has the time to read pages and pages of every type of topic.
Even if it is a topic I have extreme interest in, even if I have something to say on the matter, usually after I read 8 pages of posts I find that I have spent way too much time just "sitting around" and don't end up posting my thoughts because it seems I am "budding in" on someone elses conversation, will just be repeating what everyone else is saying, or just don't have the time.
I had a little time since it's a late start day and didn't have to get kids ready for the bus yet
That's a nice point, but, people do have different likings and opinions. I usually stick around WI Rules/Suggestions, Gift Exchange because I enjoy helping, and posting on people's ideas and trading and chatting at the GEDCT. I do sometimes venture out into other sections, but people do have favorites, and what they enjoy. If they enjoy a certain section, I don't see a problem with them spending all their time there Just my opinion!
No, no, I wasn't trying to say that at all. I'm sorry if it came out that way.
It's normal to have a favourite section - I enjoy Open Mike and Roleplay, those are probably my two favourite but I'm trying to go around the forum instead of staying in one place, and I'm suggesting that other people try to do the same.
I know there's nothing wrong with that, as I stated in some part of my post. I can't change their thoughts and opinions on each section, it was just a suggestion. (:
I figured it wasn't how you meant it but it was how it came across so I more or less just wanted to get that across...and I see you made an edit. Your point is much more clear now.
You have a very good point...I like to go to different sections because it's interesting to me to hear about different things. For example, I can join a conversation in General Discussion/Chat and share my artwork in WI Artist Cafe. I'm not saying that this is bad if you stay in one section, but I am just expressing my opinion.
