Default Is there a rule against this? If not, there should be.

Thread copying.
You may be thinking, "What's Amy getting worked up over now?"
Thread copying.

One of the worst annoyances I've experienced on a forum is when you come up with an idea, or a business, or whatever, and someone looks at your thread, goes "Wow, this is so successful!"
and instead of being inspired to create their own, they look at yours, what you did, and do the exact. same. thing.

Now, as I spend a lot of time in the room designing section, I've found that this most frequently happens with room design shoppes. Although, I would not be surprised if it happened with a graphics shop, and any other shop, I've been witness to about 3 or 4 thread copies, in which a person would copy the layout and idea of another person's thread or business. If you put a lot of time and effort into making sure your thread was interesting, unique and innovative, you would not appreciate the fact that someone took your thread, and made a replica of it so that theirs could be successful.
(The one flaw in their plan? Even if it's the same concept, the one that's already successful is the most likely to stay successful)

Anyway, I'm sick of this. Sure, copying is one form of flattery, and most people would give credit if they borrowed a couple of ideas, but when someone takes something you worked on, I simply put do NOT like it. Even if they did give credit, which, in terms of copying a whole thread, they tend not to do.

Now, I know WI has a rule about no duplicate threads allowed, but would this be considered part of that rule?
If I see a thread that looks just like one of my own, do I have the right to flag it and complain?
I think I should, since this is just plain wrong.

While it may not be a rule, it certainly is plagarism, and since plagarism is illegal, it's wrong to the max.

It would be nice if people did some ideas off me, but only if they ask. If they ask, then I'll be fine with it.

It's plagiarism, and not allowed. If someone copies your thread, please just flag it and give the details (identify both the original and the copy) and the staff will look into it.
