I have always tried to express myself in greeting newbies. I direct them to areas on WI that I enjoy or find most useful, like the cookbook and the Picture Gallery, or the naming and decorating help sections. And I try to make them feel at ease about asking questions. WI members are super-helpful and creative! So let's show new members how awesome it is here!

I'd love to see less copy/paste... All the threads are like the same, and that doesn't seem very welcoming... I know I didn't feel welcomed by that.. I understand people want others to check out the rules, but then you look at the other posts and they are all the same.. Doesn't make you feel too special...
One of the new members in that section had a question and no one answered, just all the copy/paste...
Make the new members feel welcome, not just another post count.
I agree. I don't think copy/paste should be allowed in the welcome section.
I think that is a very good point. It's a good idea for people to not copy/paste their welcomes because it's always the same for every person. I enjoy writing something new for the welcome threads I go on. But some people who copy and past their messages, have very nice things they've wrote and it's nice to read. For example, the member FunSilly had a very nice welcome that she pasted, but it was very cute and even had a little poem.
I never copy/paste in that section. All the welcomes are Welcome to WI! Check out the rules, then they copy/paste it into like 7 different threads. I don't think people feel welcomed if they check out the other threads.
I'm not saying it's bad to C/P but you know what I'm saying.
