Default Suggestion: Thread ownership

Hi!

I have a suggestion that I think would improve this almost-perfect forum. I don't know if it would work with the bulletin or whatever format WI runs on, but my idea is that you could change thread ownership. For example, if the owner of a club was becoming less and less active and WI and decided they wanted to give it to someone else. The first post would show up on the forum as that person's post, and they could then edit it. Or, if somebody wanted to close a useful thread because they couldn't maintain it, another person could step in and offer to take the thread. If the owner agreed, they would give it to that person and they could maintain it.

I think this would be very useful because it could keep high-maintainence threads open for WI longer. Sometimes people are very active in WI, contributing a lot to the forum, but once they lose interest their thread is lost, or somebody else will have to start a brand new one. I think it would help keep the entire forum more updated if the threads could stay maintained by passing them along from active member to active member.

Thanks for listening to my idea! Please tell me what you think and if this will work!
~Kay

I'm sorry, but this isn't possible. Justin has looked into it, but vBulletin doesn't have that option.

I love the idea. I was subscribed to a thread that was closed a long time ago and it would have been nice to have it now...just to chit chat with them (i think it closed because no one could maintain it ??) IDK??.
Even know some say its not possible "ANYTHINGS POSSIBLE" Good idea!!

I don't think that's such a good idea though, because I think people would get confused if the thread owner was being changed too often or too much. Or if someone wasn't on for a long time, and they needed to find a thread, it'd be harder to search for.

Plus, as FIA said, it's not possible for VB.

If you find a closed thread that you like, and you wish to post on it, or chat about it, you can flag it and ask to have it reopened. It's not necessary to change the thread owner, to do this.

As FIA explained, it is not possible to change thread ownership on WI.
