Default Suggestion: Option to hide post count

I think it would be nice to have the option to hide our post count if desired. We can hide rep, so i think this would be great too. People often think too much about rep & posts, which is the reason i'm suggesting this.

If they do this, then the Giftz count should have the option of being hidden, as well....

This is not as bad as it used to be. A lot of people here are not nearly as obssessive about as they once were. Blocking rep is a choice made individually, but I think blocking post counts would lead to people not knowing for sure if they could trust the information you are getting.
People will random rep and those still show you as friendly, but a Post count doesn't lie about your experience here.
I am not being prejudiced against low-counters, don't get me wrong, but when I see COWS4YOU's posts I KNOW that she is THE Go-To person about ANYTHING in the forum.
From the viewpoint of a newcomer, I think that is who I would seek out, people who know their way around and aren't afraid to show it

I agree with Dixiecup, because rep count is a more personal choice of what you want to show. Post count, if you don't really care how many posts you have, then it doesn't matter how much you have, so just don't look at the posts and move on. I don't think it's something that people would really need to disable. I don't have many posts, or rep for that matter, but that's okay because when I have a question I can look to the people who have higher posts than me. Posts don't lie.

Default Re: Suggestion: Option to hide post count

Personally...I would never judge someone based on their post count. There are plenty of people who have zillions of posts, but what if 99 percent of them are in the game section (which is suddenly very popular), or on the DCT? That's the case with at least a few people here.

Considering that this is, after all, a Webkinz forum, and although we have people who post a lot in the other sections, but don't even play webkinz...I would not look at post count.

I don't think it's necessary to have a feature to hide the post count- I don't get why one would feel self-conscious about it? I can understand rep...but a post is a post, it doesn't mean much. If people are having "races" to see who can get the highest amount of posts or whatever, then those posts don't mean much, do they?

I think this is more of a self-issue, just don't worry about post count. Yes, it's there and you're forced to look at it...it really doesn't matter though. Even if it was removed, it really will be ineffective in getting people to stop talking about post count, considering that not everyone will choose to hide it.

Sorry if I sound harsh...I just don't understand why this is such a big deal...posts, in my opinion, are such a trivial thing to worry about; just don't judge others and you'll be fine

Default Re: Suggestion: Option to hide post count

I don't judge anyone by the number of posts made either... A good portion of my posts came from the gaming section... How else would I have gotten so many posts in such a short time... lol... I look at the join date versus the post count. Those that have been around longer usually have the info I'm looking for...

I hope this isn't a big deal to anyone, that the post counts are listed... I see it as a fun bit of trivia... It really shouldn't mean any more than that...

Default Re: Suggestion: Option to hide post count

I look at the number of posts as 'experience' in the context of the subject matter....so yes, it does count. Looking at this thread, I would go to ArkMama for a question in gaming but maybe someone else for other questions. Everything needs to be taken in context. I would vote not to take it out because as a relative 'newbie' I rely on it to judge the caliber of the answers.

I sort of like to see it, I would never judge someone by it but it is also a way to tell if someone needs a little help with WI if they only have 3 posts and have been on webkinz insider for 3 years say
