first, i want to thank you for doing what you do. i know it's a TOUGH job!
now to my post,
i recently had a contest thread deleted. i PM'd a mod to ask why and they said it was do to the fact that i hadn't listed my prizes. (she wasn't the one that deleted it, and could only see comments left by the mod that had) i was sure i had listed them, only it was a few posts into the thread, because i wasn't sure if anyone was going to play and i didn't want to do this big ol' intro if it wasn't going to take off.
i'm not upset that it was deleted, you're just doing your job. a little unclear as to why exactlly and definately bummed mostly due to the fact that i owe people prizes and don't know who they all are.
my suggestion would be to maybe temporarily lock the thread, and contact the thread starter and let them know what they are doing/did wrong, so they can fix it, or not continue to do it and it can be a learning experience. if they do not fix the problem, then it stays locked. if it's locked for XXXXX amount of days then it gets deleted.
i've been on WI since feb 08 and i'm still learning things everyday i know you have rules and regs listed, but it is A LOT to take in!
i don't believe i broke the rules, if i did i apologize, but see i don't know exactly what i did wrong, and will possibly do it again (not intentionally, but just because i'm not sure what i did)
i will definately post psf prizes in the 1ST post, but if that's not the reason then i don't know what to do different or what to change.
thanks again for what you do and a great website!
p.s. i'm a mom and try to turn mistakes (made by me or my kids) into learning experiences for myself and my kids. even as an adult/parent i learn things every day.
I think that's a great idea Rather than having to actually see what the problem was and get it fixed then start a whole new thread, you could find the problem and then the thread would be opened again so you could fix it.
Have a great day
Everyone deserves a chance to learn and solve the problems they are having with their threads/posts, and follow the rules. I think the idea is a good one. I think their needs to be better communication of the problems to so that we can fix them and all enjoy what is a fabulous website, with no worries. I can appreciate how difficult it is to manage (and police) a website of this magnatude but I agree with the well articulated comments made by tyrenwick. She has apologized and wants to move forward to fix the problem and has proposed a solution. I hope there will be follow up to her suggestion.
That's an absoutley wonderful idea, it would really us! But to be a fudy dudy but there are only like 12 mods and admins and like thousands of us and no one is perfect so there would be tons of threads to lock up and then the mods and admin would get the "My thread was locked because of so and so but there's wasn't and blah blah blah," It's a great idea rep for you! I hope WI be able to work it out!
Great idea! Like if you made a Giant first post, but you forgot 1 little important thing, you would have to do the whole thing over again. I'm not saying that that has ever happened to me, but I know it would stink if it did. Rep Point
