most people say "sorry" because sometimes the typed word can be read the wrong way.
if one says "I don;t like it" or "ewww, not my taste" one could take it as a rude post, adding the sorry in is a good way to let others know, that while yes, they are saying what they think, they are also trying to be nice about it.
It takes me all of a nano-second to type "sorry" in a sentence, so, it's not something I mind doing at all.
Out of all of the active WI members who use the site & post, I think we are ALL looking for a bit of courtesy to our fellow members.
I think adding the "sorry" just is a proper sentiment.
My guess is because we just want to sound polite. It's a more respectful way to express a dislike to someone who doesn't feel the same way as you. It's just being courteous. I always apologize because I feel that it sounds rude just saying 'I don't like it', and that's the end of it.
I'd have to agree with those who say you shouldn't have to say sorry for your opinion. In my opinion, if you open a poll then you should expect an honest answer and not expect people to apologise for having that opinion. Unfortunately too many people overreact and get their feelings hurt over silly things like that so now everyone always has to throw sorry into the sentence when they disagree with someone because inevitably someone will complain that they were mean to them when they said they didn't like thier outfit or whatever it was. I try to not be mean and when my opinion differs from someones, I try to express mine in a respectful manner. But we shouldn't have to tip toe around everything we say just because a few are easily offended.
