I'm pretty new here. How am I to know if a post is a repeat? I say if someone wants to post a thread to go for it. You have the choice to read it or not read it. But don't criticize others for it.
Wow, I am pretty new here too. I don't spend hours on the computer and wouldn't know if a thread was a repeat. I thought this was supposed to be a fun site. Your thread sure dampened my fun.
I like your suggestions, but there is a flip side to consider. Many people don't mind duplicate/similar posts because each has its own personality, and it's easier to keep up with several shorter threads than one very loooong one. And in a public forum there will always be participants who just don't care.
One of the (many) things the forum moderators do is to merge threads that are too similar, so that all (most) of the info on a topic would be in one place. I can imagine it would be hard for them to keep up with the flurry of posts when something exciting happens. If you notice an obvious duplicate and it really bothers you, wait a while (few hours - half a day) to see if it gets merged, then you can flag the newer post with a brief comment, "Should this be merged with ...x?", and let the mods make the final call. Be conscientious about not bothering them too much, the moderators have other duties, too.
Yes, it is often hard to find something in a forum this large, but I do make the effort to check. Thanks for reminding us.

I'm so very sorry. You see, most people can tell if a person who posted a thread was new and didn't know it was there before, is a young kid who didn't know better than to post, or if someone who has been here for a while and wanted their 15 seconds of fame. I apologise to everyone who has been offended by this thread, I didn't want to criticize anyone or ruin their fun, I just wanted to make WI a better place.
I was going to add more, but I was using my PSP's internet xP
I think, for example, 'Fall Fest' threads, there should be ONEmaster thread, where everyone posts there, instead of everyone making their own little thread that maybe no one posts on. That's just my 2 cents

While I understand what you are saying, consider this, new members are coming on site every day and for those of you who have been around for awhile I'm sure that you have had several of these post re-hashed however for those of us who are new - it is just that - new so where's the harm.... if you have seen it before move on to something that is of interest to you...
As someone who is fairly new I don't mind seeing the same thing from more than one person because people have different points of view... I'm just glad several members took the time to post how to PM because I didn't know how and I caught a couple of leaves and I am so glad that I found this site it has made Webkinz just that much more fun.. Officially off soapbox now. Just hope they get WW up and running again my gardens are in need.
