My neice who is 11 was just diganosed with seizures last week. She had a seizure out of the blue the last day of school that lasted 17 minutes. She had never had a seizure in her life. She's not even supposed to watch TV, play on the PC, play video games or anything with flashing anything. Her brain seizes all the time and any flashing thing of any kind (small or big) could send her into a seizure that she will never come out of. Her seizures are considered deadly. The Dr is now trying different meds to see which one(s) will control her seizures.

We also have a friend who's daughter is triggered by flashing things. Just like my niece she's can't do anything that involves flashing things. Shes not even allowed to go watch fireworks on the 4 of July because even tho shes on meds she could have a deadly seizure.

Gingerly, thanks for bring this to everyone attention. This should be a very strick rule. It could mean life or death for someone with this disorder.
Well, that's what I meant. I felt like I needed to reply to it, but we were about to walk out the door to go shopping. Sorry!!

Oh my...That's terrible. I was fortunate enough to grow out of my seizures as a child; I always feel so bad when I here about another person suffering.

Your niece and friend's daughter, and your daughter, are all in my prayers. I wish you all the best of luck.

No problem, Cocolion. I just wanted to clearify what you had said. I didn't want anyone thinking that a small flash can't do any harm when in fact it can.

I'm glad you were fortunate enough to out grew your seizures. I hope for the same thing for my daughter but I dont think she'll be as lucky because her seizures didn't start until she was almost 16 years old.

Thanks for the prayers for my daughter, friend's daughter and my niece. It's a very hard disorder to deal with cause you feel so helpless when someone you love is having a seizure.

I agree! I don't have this issue, but I have seen many pages that are rainbow flashing and make me dizzy! Lol, I try to stick to basic patterns, etc. =]

Thanks for posting this! This tells some people to slow their animation down so people are not at risk. *rep

It still causes a conflict because everyone should be allowed to go to profiles without fear of the profiles being a trigger for a seizure.
Bear this in mind; When only ONE person in a school of 1000 has a problem with Chemical allergies or Peanut Allergies NO ONE in the school is allowed to use these. No peanut products of ANY kind are allowed in the school my Granddaughter attends because ONE child could DIE from peanut butter on another's breath! My Nephew is so allergic that they have to ASK at the restaurant if they use peanut oil before entering because the VAPOR, alone can kill him.
Chemical allergies are FAST becoming as commonplace as peanut allergies. No one is allowed to wear perfumes, colognes, aftershaves or scented body deodorants for the same reason.
I have only ever once seen someone suffer from anaphylaxis (the throat closes off and the person can't breathe!) and I NEVER want to see it again.
These profiles that are bright and flashy pose a very big risk. Seizures affect the entire BRAIN. You know, some people with PSE don't even know they have it until that first attack. It is bad enough that video games and television programs have warnings before hand or on packaging so people are aware of this.
I whole-heartedly agree with Gingerly on this...tame them down please.
