I think the idea is pretty good.
It could also be the file type you are saving the picture as.
I know for a fact that JPEG files don't really carry transparent images.
I suggest you try maybe saving your picture as a GIF or PNG file type.
Those are the file types that are used the most when dealing with a transparent image.
Your idea would make things easier though!

Unfortunately, no. If we allow IMG tags in signatures, we have no way of limiting the size of the images that people use in their signatures. Theoretically, someone using IMG code could put in an 800x800 signature and we'd have to go in and manually remove it.
