Someone suggested I try a thread or two out in the Open Mike to kind of see how it goes, so I'm going to do that & let you guys see if you think it'd still be a bad idea. (:

Even though others are disagreeing, I personally love this idea! It's not a popularity contest anyway. Think of the birthday section. Not everyone has someone make them a birthday thread. And we still have that, right?

Oh gosh, when I first saw this, I thought it said 'Shoot out section'. LOL I'm thinking, has it really come to this?
I like the idea of a shout-out section. It could maybe also include people in the news who have done something heroic, beneficial or outstanding somehow.

Thanks guys! And yeah, that's what I mean. If someone does something good, they're going to be noticed, right? I have plenty of friends who I'd make a thread for because they did nice things for me or brightened my day.. even if they aren't "popular" or "well-known". And that's right, about the birthday section, that's what I mean.. you don't hear people complaining because no one made them a thread, right? (:

On a more serious note, I think your idea is beautiful. There are so many rant threads allowed, and they sometimes become overwhelming. This is a breath of fresh air, and a refreshing change that I think would add a lot to WI. ♥
Sometimes tensions start to build within a forum, and I hope they don't just dismiss this. I hope people see that this would be a positive alternative to some of the negativity.

Like I said, you don't have to be popular or well-known to have good deeds noticed. And it might inspire members to be nicer to one another as well. Also, thank you Desty, that means a lot..

When it comes down to it . . . if there was a Shout-Out Section, there should be rules that will cause threads that are linked to popularity contests to be deleted.

I made two threads in The Open Mike for two of my friends for example and both of them were deleted.. maybe in the future..
