Question Should this be allowed? Is it fair?

How can it be fair for someone to suddenly change their mind and return items in the middle of a gift exchange trade?

In my case the trade was initiated by the other person. I added him to two of my accounts at his request. I spent 60 KC sending the items he'd asked for to him (110 KC if you count the wrapping paper and the two extra gifts I sent).

I returned to my thread to post that I'd sent my items to him and found he'd posted
that he now wanted to send only one of the two items he'd offered (he decided this after I'd let him know that I was sending my items) - because he wanted to keep the other for a room he'd decided to make.

Shouldn't there be a "point of no return" when people simply have to honor their agreement? ???

Why should he be able to return my items (which he hasn't done yet) and just walk away from the trade? I'm not upset about not receiving the items he offered to trade. I am upset about how unfair this is and confused about why people are allowed to do this.

I think he should in all fairness send the item back to you then and also send a "sorry" gift of some sort...if not I think there should be a consiquence...

It shouldn't be allowed! I say once you send there's no going back- I can see changing your mind before someone sends but not once.

Report him.

I did report him. He was told to honor the trade or send back my items. All he did was go off line. Now what?

I agree I don't think that is fair. The other thibg is a different situation, When you have agreed on a trade and the the one person can't find the item. Once you have sent. This has happened to me pleanty of times, has this ever happened to you.
Also The other thing that was not fair is when sombody replies on your thread (not a mod or fourm procter) but a plain WI person saying that that is npt a fair trade when you and the other person know it is, and then the other person your trading with changers its mind when you are almost done with the trade!!

What do I do when he comes back? And what if he gives me negative feedback in retaliation?

Actually, I personally feel when a WI member states something is not fair, you should listen to them. There are many experienced WI members here who are not Staff Members but can be helpful. They might contact a Mod to help out as well. I feel that is very fair.

For the original problem posted, yes, its not fair. I have, and believe me, MANY MANY times lost items before we send since my WKW house is fairly large. If they sent already, I would send back. I am glad to hear you have contacted a Mod. If the person you are trading with does not send back your items soon, you would have been scammed. A Mod will take care of it and see what they can do. I am sorry for the misfortune!

Do not give negative feedback until 24 hours maybe 48. An emergency may have occured which would not be fair for them. If after a day or two and you do not hear back from them, then leave negative feedback. If you notice they have been on and you have not heard from them, you can try PMing to remind them to send back or continue with the trade. If that doesn't work, contact a Mod and they will help take care of the situation.
