Why not just wait until they get 10 posts and it's been 24 hours?
Or you can leave them a Visitor Message on their profile asking if they'd like to be friends once they're a Webkinz.
I agree with you, tarsky! In my opinion, it doesn't take that long to become a Webkinz, so if this was made possible, it wouldn't make much of a difference. I remember when I first became a member of WI, a few people sent me visitor messages not later than an hour of my being a member! Personally, I think that makes someone feel better, getting an actual message from another member, rather than a friend request. It made me feel great because people I didn't even know were helping me out. I think that I would have actually been confused at an early friend request unless I knew the person well; all of my friends have talked with me at least once. I also agree with the idea of leaving a VM on their profile; it would give the member something to look forward to. I'm actually grateful the post/time on WI requirement to be a Webkinz isn't that big, otherwise, Lil 'Kinz would feel left out.
I guess that's nice, but since it's vBulletin it might not be possible to program that into the website.
You could always try talking to them on a thread and then once they're a webkinz, add them as your friend.
Actually the 10 posts or less thing is an add on, so it is possible for Justin to enable us to send them FRs
The best way to greet a Lil' Kinz and make them feel welcome and part of the community, is to visit the Hi I'm Joe and I Love My Webkinz forum, and post on their first thread. This is where new members are first directed to post when they register. The forum was set up this way, and this is how it works best.
