Basically, re-reading the message, what it is saying is that we collect information, and to be careful. Well, we have forms when you sign up and you have to create a username and password, so I guess that's what they're "warning" you about...

Nothing dangerous about WI on my computer... as Justin said, it may just be Earthlink and someother internet providers... I have internet explorer and its fine!

it's not virus, it's earthlink's SCAMBLOCKER. its quite a nice perk but they do get it wrong sometimes.

google does have a warning too, and some times I get that "you are entering a unsecure page. do you wish to continue? this could destroy your computer" or something like that. I'm too addicted to WI to stop!

For the most part, all of the anti-whatever protective apps are a pain (though, unfortunately, still a requirement). I've seen cases where Norton blocked Microsoft Office from installing because it thought it was a virus, and similar weirdness. One of these days, maybe someone will come up with a uniform system where all of the protective apps could link to live so we don't have all of these annoying, bogus warnings. Or maybe they could just put cattle prod shockers on the keyboards of all the malicious hackers who have the tragic combination of brains and way too much time on their hands LOL.
