Well, sometimes they do that to keep it a secret. For the winner, they announce the name.
They allways do that for GO's and for most of the graphic competitons.
I got confused..

Yes, it can lead people to vote for their friends, but i honestly believe the people on WI are more mature than that. As well, having your name with the graphic is a way to 'get your name out there' and maybe get more visits to a graphic shop if you have one?
just my opinion.
True..but then if someone has a tough time with that image, people will know to never go to their shop because their graphics aren't as "nice" as someone else's.
I kind of agree and disagree.
I disagree because it's really up to the person that posts the poll. Also if you don't post who made it then how do you know who wins and who made the amazing graphic? Some people might think, "wow that is extraordinary, I think I'll order from their shop." If it doesn't show who made it they can't do that. Graphic polls are kind of like advertising what we can do, showing who made what just gives them credit so that people don't get mixed up.
I agree because yeah I guess some people can vote for friends and whatnot, but I think most of us are mature enough not to do that.
I don't think it should be a rule, the host can choose whether or not to put up usernames.
But this is a good reminder, that goes for any polls like that. I wouldn't want someone not voting for me just because they hate me ):
Another graphics off suggestion- post the original picture so we can see exactly what people did to edit it

The poll owner should have the choice if they want to have names in the poll or not. If the contestant doesn't want their name to be in the poll, then they wont participate. Some people will vote on by who made what, but that is just how it will be. People could always go to the graphics club and see who made what, so it wouldn't really matter in my opinion.
Yes and no. It's a good idea not to put names and a good idea, if you know the name of the user and you want to congratuate them and say "good job", no. If the person does not want to be made fun of by others, no. I think in my opinion, that it is really up to the creator of the Graphic Off competition to put names or not. Good thead, reminder and thank you.

I like choosing. Maybe before people enter, they could ask whether or not it would be anonymous. If they really dislike having the names listed, then they might not enter.
What I like to do is number the stuff, then ask people to open the spoiler with credits AFTER they vote. Sure, it's still on the honor system, and I bet a lot of people cheat, but at least it's slightly more secretive then lists. :3
I actually dislike having no credit. If they announce the winners after I'm fine with it.
When I host my polls, I NEVER put names with graphics. I did it with the people who first started and we decided it was a given policy at some point... I guess it got lost somewhere along the line, but thank you for reminding.
((I supposed not POLICY, but most people followed it))
