This is just a suggestion for the role-playing section here on WI.
I understand how being a mod. is hard, having so many rps to look at, approve, and check every day. Plus new ones added all the time. But here might be a solution.
I think seperating rps from Our Members Creations was a good move but maybe going a little further... There are over 20,000 active members, at least 10 or 15 of them have to be responsible and trust worthy. So divide Role-play into smaller sections, one for Wolf rps, Warriors cats, humans, etc. Just make catagorys. Then assign mods to them.
Limiting the amount of rps will be good too. That way we don't get back to this agian. I think this might work, but this is one out of 20,000+.
It's not necessarily a bad idea, but not as easy to implement as it would seem. The current mods would have to agree on those 10-15 new mods. If you're putting them in charge of parts of the board then they would have to be made mods, they couldn't just be regular members. I believe all current mods and admins have gone through background checks, so that would need to be done also.
I also think that this is a Webkinz site and as such that should be the main focus. Role-plays take away from that. They also take up alot of space and that space has to be paid for. No offense, but there are plenty of other places to go to engage in role-plays. This is a webkinz site and personally I'm glad they scaled down the role-plays so the focus was once again on webkinz the way it should be.
I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't see it leading to an increased number of rps available.
The process for finding moderators is not as easy as just finding someone willing. Our moderators are thoroughly checked here and are then background checked in real life. And they have to be adults. Also, mods then have to be trained and, unless they were in the rp section already, would need extra training for working with rps. (Keep in mind some rps may get 1000 posts in one month.) We added many new mods recently, all for other areas, so you're pretty much down to me or smitchell, unless one of us isn't on.
Also, the process of choosing rps is not easy. Smitchell and I spend weeks going over proposals as well as the owners' WI history. We then invite the rest of the staff's opinion, and we slowly whittle down the stack to the ones we will eventually use. I already have people asking about July rps and I haven't yet recovered from the work I put into choosing for June. (And I don't even know that there will be new rps in July. I do know there won't be any sooner than that.)
As others have pointed out, this is a webkinz site, not a role-play site, and it is not fair for a non-webkinz area to get so much of the staff's time and attention.
