Default Reminder Threads....ANN0YING!!! To me, its BEGGING for rep.

Alrighty. So, lately around this section of the fourm, everyone keeps posting reminder threads! Like, "Dont be mean" or "Post in proper english" or things like that. Or "dont give random rep". And on those threads, they say "no rep needed. " WHAT?! Its like, we know u want rep! Dont you think we know those rules already?! I mean, we're supposed to. This part of the thread is for the rules (that D0NT need to be reminded 0VER AND 0VER again) and suggestions. feels like the "reminder rule" section.

Hey, i came up with an idea for a new thread section!

xD

Now if you think that this thread is offensive. Please post that dude in your post and also say your reason. =-)

Sometimes "reminder" threads are needed- Members may forget the little things in the Rules that could play a big part while on WI. I think these are a good idea, as long as they stay on different topics, and don't get out of hand such as bringing up the littlest things such as Rep. Now, rep is becoming more and more popular for suggestion and problems, but that still gives no reason for constant threads about it. If Justin didn't think it was a good idea, then I believe he wouldn't have put it back on WI, and thats what I believe in my mind.

You were pretty keen on the "begging for rep" idea. I think very few members would do it for that purpose, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Most of the time they are simply looking to vent their annoyments on the forums- not for rep.

Some reminder threads are good and they do help, but there are WAY to many that repeat over and over again. I agree with you 100 %. I think this thread will make less people make thoose threads . Rep for you!

We can't be the judge of what a member's intentions are when creating a thread. I'm sure some people create threads just for rep, but I'd rather have them helping than being mean and not contributing. And, I think people add "No reps needed" just so they don't get bombarded with the "You just did this to fish for rep!" comments. I feel like this thread could just get thrown on the same pile.

But I do totally agree with you that some of the reminder threads may get a little excessive. Thanks for bringing this up.

I see where you're coming from, however, sometimes there is a need for these types of threads. Sometimes people DO make them for rep, such as ones saying don't post in red or blue, but ones like, REMINDER: be cautious when posting. Be careful not to hurt others feelings. If it's something more along the lines of, here is a Rule and here are some tips! Those are helpful and deserve rep.

If a post seems to be asking for rep, just tell them good thread and don't give them a rep.

I think you have a point. When I first made a thread and a lot of people posted on it, a couple days later some threads with similar ideas came up. I only made the thread because I thought no one else had thought of it before (please correct me if I'm wrong). I also never post anything about rep because it doesn't matter whether or not I get it for a thread or post, as long as it's helpful and friendly. I actually like feedback more than reps.

Oh, and I try to not make threads that have been posted recently. If my "proper English" thread had been posted recently, please let me know, because I don't want to seem like I took the idea from someone else. Thanks!

Exactly my point. Those ones are the only ones I have exceptions for. Lol.
