Referrals

I was just randomly looking at my profile, and I saw that I had three referrals. I know what they are, but I was like, "Three? Why do I have three?" The only person that I know I referred is kippergirl8. So I was wondering if we could find out somehow who we "referred". It would be interesting to learn. :)

It's when you join, there's a box that lets you type in the name of a member who referred you (i.e. Say bluski and I know each other outside of WI, and she told me about WI and that I should join.). When I join, I can put that she referred me to this website (basically, a referral is the member you found out about the website from (if any))

I think it's a nice idea, but it's not a pressing issue for me. ;)

I think Staff Members can see that... You could ask one of them, but even if they did know, I'm not positive they could tell you. I'm sure there's no harm in just asking. :)

I would ask a staff member, too.

Re: Referrals

Thanks for helping! I'll probably ask a mod or admin. Or Justin or Wendy. It's just kinda weird, because I don't remember telling anyone but kippergirl8 that they should come join WI. But wouldn't it be weirder if someone just typed in a random username (like panda886)?

I've always wondered that myself and I can never find anything on it. When I first saw it, I thought it was bad, so I'm just sitting there thinking "Gah, what'd I do?" lol

It it's for getting people to join the site, then I'm lost 'cause I only remember telling one person about it.

Re: Referrals

There are a lot of guests who use the forums before joining. My theory is that they saw a random user on the forums (who happened to be you) and when they decided to sign up they used them as their referral.
