oh my.
you are right on the most part, but if you DO have more reps and posts, when you leave, more people would most likely remember you more.

and reps do kinda matter ... because it shows how much you helped out

but other than that ... rep! =D

I don't see it as time wasted at all. WW/WI are great hobbies. It is not just something fun to do but through WI I have met some really amazing people that I would not have met if I was not a member of WI. Life is to short, we should be living for today and we should try to see things in a positive light. Yes in 20 years what shoes you wore or how much time you spent on WW/WI will mean nothing but your memories of the people you met here and your high school memories will last a lifetime. You should learn as much as you can and always strive to do your very best but who says you can't look good at the same time.

*sigh* I have been thinking the same exact thing lately. imean, when I think of all the stuff i could've and could be getting done ! I mean- my room would be clean, i would have finished a few sewing/quilting projects, my school picture album should've and could've been done last week and I'm 100% sure that I would've exercised more! omg it practically sickens me how much precious time has gone down the tube and I have nothing to show for it... *sigh again* I've been thinking that i should cut down my time here significantly and this just confirmed it so thanks*

but then again...well hmmm. ok so i just thoguht of something: around here it's like follow the rules, be nice or get kicked out and i like that rule because it should really be applied everywhere in life AND being on here i believe has made us better people

I do agree with you to an extent. In twenty years, these things wont matter. But, I would never consider any of my time here to be waisted. It I wasn't here and on WW, I would be doing something else that required a degree of commitment and time. I think it is wonderful for people to have a hobby. My mother always said that this was a good way to stay out of trouble I myself am kinda past the age of really having to worry about getting into trouble, as I am past the age of peer pressure and wanting to fit in. But, as an adult, and a mother of two, I do need some kind of hobby to escape to from time to time when the real world is getting to be to much. So, you are very right that this to shall pass, but never will I find this to have been a waist of time. I have met way to many great people, and have learned a lot of non-webkinz stuff here for it to ever feel like a waist of my time

To a degree, I agree. Yes, it might seem like a "waste." But If you think about it, what else would you do? Especially if yoru a kid, the only thing you probably would do is play pokemon or some other thing. We sort of tire of everything. In kindergarten, like EVERYONE chased each other. Now I just hang out with my friends. If you didn't do WI, WW you'd do another thing like it, and so on. If you fit in the "popular" group, nothing against you, but what will it do in the future? You may never see those same people again, so why would it matter? So in retrospect, WI and WW for me is just a sort of hobby, but in school (cool clthes, hair etc.) won't really matter. Great point!

My question is....Have you had fun? It may not seem to matter but having something you enjoy doing in good for you. Rep points are nice but I don't think thats the reason people do things on WI. I think people just like helping another person and that is always good.

Lives is full of choices and what you have said is true to some extent, however we live in the present and strive towards goals in the future, that said as long as any activity is done in moderation I see nothing wrong with it. All hobbies take time, effort, and money, but what is important to me is the enjoyment that I get out of any given hobby that I pursue and I enjoy WW and WI as much as I do any of my others daily activities so I consider it time well spent. Just like I did when I played dolls, went to school, or pursued a career. Bottom line do what feels right to you.

I agree with you, somewhat. I agree that people are getting too caught up in postcount/repboxes/statis/ect, and that it won't matter in the future. You make an excellent point there.
But I will never consider my time on here, wasted. This is such an amazing site, I mean, I spend my whole afternoon/evening on here on Monday-Friday and basically my whole day on the weekends. And I have a good reason to. I have wonderful friends on here. They are just, amazing. They never let me down, and always make me smile when I'm feeling sad.
If this site closes, I will be very very very dissapointed. It's basicallly the online site I am addicted to (Okay, I go on other sites, but I go on here everyday. In fact, ever since I have joined, which was a few months ago, I have only NOT been on here for 2 days). Without this site, I would not know what to do. I would be bored. Basically being on this site is my hobby. Hobbies are not a waste of time, in my book. This site makes me feel happy and welcomed. I like that.
However, excellent point you bring to us.
How many posts you have are just a number; rep boxes are just a tiny little box that could be green, black, or gold; it does not matter how many friends you have, it matters what kind of friend you are.
Again, amazing point, Julay.

With love,
-Aubrey

(I believe the majority of us will let this go sooner or later, but you never know.) And, it will be hard letting go of all the posts/reps/friends I've made over the course of my activeness on here. But, it has to be done someday.

I believe that if you spend too much time on here, yes, it would be harder, and yes, you should spread out more. I try to spend a nice amount of time here, but then I also put aside time to just be with myself with a good book or excersizing, spending time with my friends. For somebody who spends every minute on here..well..maybe you should get out more.

I don't think that you are 'wasting' time on here, though. If you enjoy WW/WI, you're not wasting anything. For the moment, you love going online and visiting friends. Maybe..in a year or two, you might not. And if you look back, you might think that you watsed your time and could have been doing bigger and better things. But, I think as long as you're having fun, you're not wasting time.

As others, I bet, have already said, playing is a form of learning. And, you don't just do nothing on here. You interact with friends, give advice, and get advice. You make somebody feel better if they're having a bad day, which means the world. So, you're 'spending' time here. I wouldn't say 'wasting', though. But this made me think, also. You brought up a good topic!

♥Lissy
P.S. Over time, everybody will grow out of things then look back and question why they ever did something. Not just any particular thing. I think it's just how life goes, how you grow up more and more and mature.
Thank you very much for the wonderful post, Lyssa

I guess what I'm saying is that you did do something that mattered. Besides, think about the humane aspect of things. Who will really care about post and rep when they are old and weak...but then again, who will care about that toy that they wanted for a whole year and finally got for Christmas(then gave it away a year later, they outgrew it). Everything you do or get is worth something, is still an accomplishment...but really, most material things will not matter in the long run. So just think about the people you have helped, the things you have done, and you will see you didn't waste a second here. (But seriously, stay LOL)
Well, I don't regret it, but I've spent so much time on here that I could have used to get other stuff done... and thank you so much for the nice post, Bob

In twenty years, we WILL have out-grown Webkinz World, and there-for, outgrown Webkinz Insider. But, the term "wasted" when you are talking about the time we spend on here, would not directly apply (:

This is our (mine at least) childhoods, we can always look back at these times and notice where everything in life was fun and exciting. These are some of the memories, and friends that we have (:

I know that it would be hard to go on without my BFF on here (Jenn965)

Which I will remember her probably all of my life (: Someday, my kids might get into an online site, and I hope that I could remember all the wonderful times of Webkinz Insider, and I would actually come and see if the site was still operational (:

I will make some note in a journal of sort so that I will know exactly what happened, so that I WILL remember it in 20 years (:

Or I can always try

-Januarywebkinz
JW, what you said about making a note of it in a journal- I think that is a GREAT idea, and maybe I'll do it too...
Thank you very much for posting

Yeah, but I don't really want to be remembered for having lots of rep/posts/being a GG...
I want to be remembered for being myself, DotDotDuck...
