Default Was this really a good idea?

Is it really a good idea to close topics to inactivity? I don't really like it. I think that you should be able to go back to ask questions and such.

I think its a great idea to close inactive threads.
At WI threads remained open for 2 weeks. If no one posts in them for 2 weeks then they automatically close.
If they didn't close from inactivity there would be all sorts of strange threads from back when WI first opened floating around that probably shouldn't exist and the starter of the thread is probably long gone and there would be multiple threads of the same topic... and so forth. It just gets really complicated.
However, if you want one of your old threads opened, you can always flag it and ask for it to be opened or PM at Mod/Admin.
Here's a guide on that:
http://www.webkinzinsider.com/forum/...g-post-407273/
And if its an old thread you want to comment on or if you had a question about something you can always try the somebody help section and get your question answered on PM an admin.
They'd love to help you.

I see what both of you are saying... but old threads usually die soon anyway. Like last night; I wanted to ask a question on a thread about PMing. My question wasn't answered and I can't PM anyone. See what I'm saying?

Why Can't I PM or see the member list?
This is most likely because you are classified as "Lil Kinz" on the system, meaning you have less than 10 posts. Once you have crossed over the 10 posts barrier, you will be able to view and use all of these features!
Webkinz Insider Forum - FAQ: How do I post, PM, take screenshots, report, change thread titles, etc?

Try again now that you have 11 posts.

Still can't see a "PM user" button anywhere.

You're still classified as a Lil Kinz.
Besides having 10 posts, you also need to be a member for 24 hours, and even then it might take a bit for the system to catch up

I agree with this, but I think 2 weeks is a little short.
A month would be fine.

I think so. Some threads with rules and stuff shouldn't close, or maybe we should have this thing like on certain threads of ours, stories, mmwfts and stuff, they could stay open. But otherwise, yes, it was a good idea for old dcts and polls and all of that. (;

I think it's a good idea.
It'd be so busy, and overflowing, if every thread remained open.
Things change, and people move on.
Plus, if a thread was kept open, and the owner never came back on, there would be no moderation on it, and it could get out of hand.
I think it's good.
If you have your own thread that gets closed, and you want it opened, just red flag it.
I think 2 weeks is a fine amount of time too. It keeps things moving.
