Default Read Whole 1st Post

Hello I've noticed that some (not all or many, just a few) people are posting on the thread after just reading the title. When you do that, you sometimes can post something WAY off topic! Believe me... it gets embarrasing! I once read the title of a thread and it was about adopting a new pet. So I went on the thread and posted something like "I think you should get a flying Webkinz if you don't already have one, the treetop rooms are awesome!" when the thread was about someone who already adopted a Webkinz.

How embarrasing!

So... I'm just saying that maybe you should read the whole entire 1st post of the thread before posting, so you don't make a fool out of yourself. Plus, it only takes a couple minutes to read the first post! This is just a suggestion, not a command... feel free to add your opinions!

Very good point, Strawberry Jam! I think it's also a little disrespectful to the original poster not to take a look at what they had to say that prompted them to start a thread in the first place. Not to mention reviewing the start of a discussion helps keep things on topic.

You make an excellent point!
Definitely, and just add on to what you have said: posting without reading the whole first post might get your post(s) on that particular thread to be fluff posts. So always remember to read the whole thread. Rep!

I also think that people should read the entire thread before posting.. I've seen way too often that people will read the first post (or part of the first post) and ask or say something that's already been said and/or answered.

Exactly! Some people spend at least 5-10 minutes making a thread, trying to make that vert first post the most important. They like to add emotion and vivid adjectives to make their "main subject" of the thread very clear to the reader. What is the point of typing all of that out if people are just going to ignore it and go-off of your title... which took about 5 seconds to type? ???

That's a great point as well! Even if it is a really really really long thread, you can search your subject that you are going to post to see if someone in the thread has already said/ask what you were going to say/ask. It saves posts and "typing energy"

Good point! And no one wants fluff posts... especially if you are trying to get your 50 helpful posts to become a GT

I was going to object, since it'd be very time consuming to read every post in a topic with 50+ pages, but using the search function is a great idea. Thanks Strawberry!

Yeah, the Search option can be very useful instead of browsing through 100+ pages. I sometimes even use it in House Threads to look up the page a certain room is on.
