Default Read Entire First Post Before Posting

Hi there!

I think there's been a thread about this, but it's been a while and I think everyone should read the entire first post of any thread before posting at all. Not only is it sort of disrespectful of the person who made the thread, and took the time to write out the first post, but it is annoying if you say something in the first post that everyone seems to be just looking over. Often the title doesn't say it all, and the first post is there for a reason

Also, scan through the first couple pages to see if a question you want to ask has been answered yet. I'm sure that if you have a question, someone else probably has/had the same one as well. (thanks Sydney!)

I'm not sure who made the first thread, but if you know who it is, please let me know. Thanks!
Credits to Strawberry Jam for bringing this up!

excellent point, as always

i really wish the whole of WI could read this thread, because there are a countless number of times when i see someone post something that shows that they only read the title. and when they do this, they cannot contribute to the disscussion, or share any ideas that reading the entire thread might have sparked in them. then the mods have to come and get rid of the post, if it is to off topic, and that is just causing unnessecary work for the staff. sometimes it makes me angry.

and about the first thread, i remember posting on it, but like you, i can't seem to remember their name

rep to you!

Thanks, Bob!

I've made a couple threads when people have ONLY read the title- and asked questions I'd already addressed in the first post. Also, I think they should scan the other posts to see if a question they want to ask has been answered already. Thank you so much for the post- 110% agreed!

Me neither... I hope the original owner will speak up!

Another great point, Dogluver.

If you don't read it all, you might miss something important, interesting, or just silly, and also, people might not know what you're talking about.

thats another thing..people should always read some of the post, so they can answer any questions that have popped up, or make sure someone has not already posted what they were going to.

i will go try to find the original thread

Thanks, Greta!

Agreed- and thanks for the link! I looked back a couple pages to see if it was active- it's not active, but it's not closed. I'll add that to the first post with credits to SJ.

Great thread!
It's sort of weird when you post something and someone replies saying something you stated in your post, and then they go: "Oops, sorry. I just kind of skimmed over the post.." or something like that, because that makes you feel disrespected, especially when you've worked really hard on the thread.

Again, great thread. (:
Rep to you.
