Actually, not true. They are pop-unders and are part of the ad campaign I am trying. These are only on the front page area and are not allowed on the forum. You should only ever get 2 pop-ups per 12-16 hour period. If you get them more often than that, please let me know and I'll talk to the ad company about that.

If they aren't working properly, I may have to disable them and try something else

Ok I just closed down all my browsers to see if I would get a pop up. When I pulled up WI I did get a pop up. So I rechecked my settings on my pop up blocker on yahoo and the one on IE 7. I made sure that they were on the highest settings. Now I am not getting any pop ups at all.

Justin, they are totally all over the place. I have had a PILE of them show up. This was a few days ago and I enabled my Pop-up blocker, haven't tried since. But I would close one and onother would follow right behind it. I was not very happy about it, thought something was wrong with my PC, then I saw a thread about pop-ups. I am not the only one experiencing this. I haven't had any pop-ups since I turned my blocker on. But they were one right after the other...not just one or two but three or four in rapid succession for every page that I would go to.

That could be due to the "timer" since you already got one within the last 12-16 hours. If you turn off the settings on your popup blocker, do you get another one right away? You shouldn't... If you do, please, please let me know!

You may want to check your computer for spyware. On my computer (I run a Mac with Firefox), I get 1-2 pop-ups per 12 hour period, no matter how many times I load the page. What you're experiencing shouldn't be happening at all, could you direct me to where people are talking about 4+ popups coming in all at once on every page load?

Also, if they're showing up on the forum, that's a sure bet that it is your PC, as there are no pop-unders on the forum ad campaign.

Justin, you are right. I disabled the pop-up blockers and closed my browser and no pop-unders.

I don't mind getting a pop-up or under as long I don't have to worry about spyware or viruses. I had to get this new computer due to viruses that could not be wiped off my computer with any software.

Thanks for testing for me. I think I'm going to disable one of the pop-under campaigns, as I don't like the quality of the pop-under's content. The other one (netflix) is a quality pop-under campaign and is used on sites like Orbitz.Com, so you can be sure that there is no spyware or viruses.

I don't like get pop ups either but I'm glad you are trying new things to help fund the site. I'm glad we don't have a member fee.

Thanks! What I may do is put a "picture-style" ad on the side of the forum, replacing one of the "Google Text" ads... This may help out quite a bit and we may be able to get rid of the pop-unders all together. At this point, though, one campaign has now been removed, so everyone should only see 1 pop-up every 16 hours on the front page area (and nothing on the forum). If you see more than that, let me know!
