I've seen these before and i'm glad you made a thread about it! I always forget to red flag it though. I usually just try to ignore it and then go to another post.
Yes, this is bad. But, I don't see it often. And when I do, it's because certain words aren't allowed on WI, words that are common in everyday language. Half the time, I don't even know those words are until I try to post one and it stars it out.
But, really, I don't think many of us have seen it lately. . so you know. .
However, there a few words on here that have different contexts, that I have seen people spell out, to avoid being censored.
For example, "I need a new vacuum. This one doesn't **** any dirt up anymore.".
Now, that right there, saying the word in that context isn't bad, so I, personally, don't have an issue with someone going around the censors.
I, personally, have some words that I use in real life that get bleeped on here, even though they aren't THAT bad. But, it's on WI's censor list, so, it gets censored.
I just feel like a lot of times, when it gets censored out, it makes it look like I tried to say something really bad, which isn't the case.
For instance, I tend to use the 4 letter word that can be a synonym for 'junk or garbage' (NO! It's not the cuss word!).
But, since it gets censored, I feel like it LOOKS like I'm trying to say something way worse. Especially considering it's a 4-letter word, as is the actual cuss word that could be alternated into the sentence, so I always feel like people will THINK I was trying to use the really bad word, instead of the one WI just frowns upon and censors also.
Again, I'm not really complaining about the rule. Just stating that I feel like people think I'm using the way worse version than I really am.
So, I mean, I usually don't get too upset about people getting stuff censored, because there are some common words that most people used that get censored.
I think most of us have accidentally typed something, not knowing/thinking it would be censored.
So, if it's just a rare thing, I don't mind.
Granted, if somebody makes several posts with words being censored, or trying to avoid the censor, then, it's bad, but, typically, I, personally, try to be a little understanding if there's a censored word, since that doesn't necessarily mean it's one of the "main cuss words", but moreso just a word that is frowned upon by WI.
Did you purposely spell 'typo' wrong, or is that just really ironic?
I agree with you completely. I can understand starring out words that are really bad, but putting words like **** "the vacuum doesn't **** anything!" on the cuss list is just a bit... much. I can see how it can be used inappropriately, but it's still a bit too protective to put words like the one I mentioned above on the cuss list.

I just stick to the rule that if it's written to be offensive, it is! There are plenty of other sites you can go to be potty-mouthed & foul, WI is NOT 1 of those places. Believe me, I can curse up a blue streak to even make pirates blush. I don't need to pretend to say something foul, it doesn't make me, nor anyone else, seem cooler so I just keep things mellow & happy here. WI is a happy place. Just do your best to keep it that way.
The words are automatically filtered to stars if they don't meet the WI requirements. Like the word *** or ****. People just sometimes type those things. And I think if you can't read it then it's no problem, because if you can fill in the blank your old enough to have heard those words a lot.
Have a great day!
Thank you so much, Lulu646! This is a great reminder to help everyone stop getting banned for bad language. And it also keeps us all safe from hearing the swear words over and over. I have never seen a starred space out swear word on Webkinz Insider, and I am very thankful for that! But that's because I hang out where everyone is always kind and courteous. I think that if you see something like this, and you know that the stars are swear words, you should flag it, quote it and REPLACING the stars with a replacement swear word and say, "Excuse me, but this was inappropriate. It is against the WI rules". I still think this is an awesome reminder, Lucy, and I hope everyone reads it and realizes they shouldn't be swearing.
Just wanted to give a round of appreciation to the mods. I ran into a very inappropriate post a week ago (spammer had subbed onto WI) and within 2 minutes of my flagging it the post (and the poster) were gone.
WI is a community and together we keep this a safe space for kids - but our mods are the ones who do the bulk of the work - so thanks to them - and thanks to everyone who flags posts or PMs people to alert them to a message that got **ed so they can fix it.
