Default Please Give a Reason for a Thread Closing

I would like to suggest/request that if a thread gets closed, (other than the 2 week non-post reason) that some kind of reason is given. Even if it's just something like;
- Thread ran its course and fizzled out
- Thread went in a bad direction (although, I think it would be nice to just delete the 'bad' posts, and keep the thread.)
- We think this stirs up trouble
- We hate this thread.
Anything is better than just getting a blank message that we closed your thread. Period.
Please don't say, "If you have a question about a thread closing, PM a staff member." It wouldn't be necessary to ask, if a short note was given. Thanks.

VBulletin doesn't give us an option to type a "reason" for thread closings like it does when we delete things. If you ever want to know why, just ask a member of the staff.

Well then, maybe whoever closes it could type some kind of post at the end of the thread to give a quick reason. Or send a very brief PM. I think a lot of people would appreciate that. We don't get a message from a specific staff member. It's an impersonal PM from a computer, so it's hard to know who to ask.

I don't ever recall having a thread being closed and not being told why

I've had 2 threads closed this month with no reasons given. According to FIA, it's not possible to give a reason in the thread-closing notice. It's not good communication, or a good feeling. I was suggesting that a brief PM would be nice, or just someone posting at the end to bring some kind of closure to it.

I agree Desty, it can be awfully confusing for newer members who maybe don't get all the rules quite yet.

And it can be confusing for an older member who thinks they know the rules. lol
Let's be real...it's confusing, embarrassing, frustrating when you get a notice saying that 'we closed your thread'....
Of course people would like to know why. We feel like we've done something wrong, and that's an awful feeling. (and nothing is learned unless we know what we did)
