Posting of ages, age ranges, or grades is NOT allowed in any form. This rule applies to both kids and adults. If you ever see someone post any information like this, please red-flag it for a member of the staff to review.
Regular posters have different interpretations of whether certain labels are allowed or not. I've seen conflicting posts in other threads too. Some say adults can, some say not. (Rules, to me, say no). There is also referencing another's age - some posts parents make are edited, others are not & some even have staff posts below (not dealing w/ age question). Could a staff please post to officially cover these (age labels; and referencing non-WI members). Rules don't discuss "age" labels, and perhaps should be updated to explicity spell out any okay or not. Thank you for your time and attention.
We also don't want people posting anyone else's age. For example, an adult posts a kid's age and the the kid signs up for an account, and then the kid's age is on the site. Since we're not going to go around tracking down who is and who isn't on the site, and what their relationships are, we just say "no" to it all. If you see someone's age posted and it hasn't been edited out by a member of the staff, it's only because we haven't see it. Please point it out to us.
These rules are in place for your protection, and they are also in place because of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act which says that if you're under the age of 13, personally identifying information about you can't be placed on the internet. Rather than go around and figure out who is what age (which would be a violation of the law), and split hairs over what is and what isn't personally identifying info, we just say "no" to it all. It's the best way we know of to keep everyone safe.
