I agree! It get me so upset when people convince themselves they are dumb for not knowing something. I always tell them that they are not dumb for not knowing the answer to their question.
This thread was needed. Thank You!
I agree! You should never feel that your question is dumb, you just didn't know!! There were probably others with that same question, so it helped more people. Asking questions is how you learn, so don't be afraid to post it!!!
Asking a question shows a willingness to learn something new therefore it is a sign of intelligence. I was taught from a young age that there is no such thing as a "dumb or stupid question" but there are those who may not respond to my quest for knowledge in the proper manner. No one has the right to put down anyone else's intelligence for any reason, it's rude and wrong and against forum rules. There is no reason to put yourself down when asking a question either, instead of saying "This may be a dumb question" why not say "I need to learn...".

Some people don't think their questions are smart or have been heard before so they just say, 'This is a dumb Question but...' probably to avoid mean or harmful comments. Yes, if someone says this is dumb, it is rude and uncalled for but someone could still believe it is. I think it's okay to do that becasue, honestly, we've all done it before at some time.
Very good thread, I agree.
My social studies teacher says "The only dumb question is the one you don't ask. Because the chance of someone else having the same question is very high." Which is very true
I don't think that there is any dumb question, just because the person didn't know it doesn't make it dumb. I know that the main reason people do this is to avoid harsh or mean comments. (Like some of you said) I wish people would stop saying mean comments, so people wouldn't think they were dumb for just asking a question, because if you ask a question, then you'll know the answer, so no need to think a question is dumb! Well thanks for making this thread! It's a remainder for people to not think they are dumb for asking a question!
