Thumbs up "No Offense but I'm going to insult you anyway and tell you exactly what I think whether you like it or not!"

I have noticed lately that people write "no offense" and then write something incredibly rude and, well, offensive!!! Just because you write "no offense" doesn't cancel out what you say. It still makes the other person feel very hurt....
I really noticed today when someone wrote "no offense....*rude comment*" on one of my threads today and I was shocked. Why would someone do that?

the proper thing would be to do if you disagree with someone's opinion or creative thoughts, would be to say. .... "No sorry, I really don't care for ...." or "No, sorry I don't think that would work, maybe this would:...."

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on common courtesy that some pepople seem to ignore or think is "okay"...

Thanks for taking the time to read!

O.k. I am new at this but isn't this clearly stated in the rules that this totally unexcepted. Is there a place to turn them in. This could become a type of cyber bullying. I know I sound like an old fashion but. The old golden rule DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU HAVE DONE UNTO YOU always works for me. It is good to see that you all are willing to stand up for what's right.

Good for you for taking a stand against rudeness!!
I completely agree, you can disagree with someone without being rude. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism as long as you use a little courtesy when writing your opinion.

I find a good rule of thumb when writing a post whether it be in agreement or disagreement is to put yourself in the other person shoes. If you received the reply you just wrote, what would you think? ???

I totally agree............. I've done it a few times, but I've never said anything rude. Like, "No offense, but a B&Q Cheeky Cat would be better in my opinion." Is that okay? 'Cause that's what I've been doing.

I have seen this also and I have noticed how offensive they can sound. Sometimes they can be incredibly rude. Think about the thread owner, that can hurt their feelings really bad. Some people need to realize that before they post their idea. I do not like it when people tell me "That's dumb, no offense," or "No offense but I think your idea is really stupid." Those comments really hurt my feelings so I know they hurt other member's feelings too when they see those comments. I think this is a great little reminder and can help all WI member's be a little bit gentler and nicer with their comments. Thankyou formaking this thread!

FInally, someone who agrees!!! I noticed on WI too, but also in real life. Today my brother was like, "No offense, but shes ugly!" when I started talking about a friend. What's the point of saying "no offense" when it's going to offend the person anyways? I can understand "no offense, but that probably wouldn't work b/c...maybe try ... ?" because it makes more sense. I 100% agree!!!

I agree with you 100%. You bring up a very good point. If you feel the need to put the words "no offense" in you post, you probably should not be posting at all. If you don't agree with someone that is perfectly fine. We are all entitled to our own opinions. But there are nice ways to go about it. Rudeness should not be tolerated. Rep point to you.
