Default No more medical advice in Open Mike

I know that a lot of personal advice threads in Open Mike are deleted for various reasons, like they're "too serious" for WI. I feel that if those types of threads are not allowed, then medical advice ones should definitely not be allowed.

Giving out medical advice (I'm sure most of us here aren't doctors...) is much more dangerous than giving out advice for personal situations. A person could get seriously sick/make their injury a lot worse if they follow the advice of some of our members, who are not doctors.

So I'm suggesting that these types of threads are not allowed either, if the personal advice ones are not allowed. I don't see why they are allowed when the personal advice threads are allowed.

(By the way, I'm talking about someone making a thread like "I hurt my leg really badly doing something today, what should I do?" Not threads saying "Oh, I can give out medical advice! Post your problems here." I've never seen one of those, haha)

Well I think most people who post that should be confident. If you aren't too confident you either don't post or you post the obvious. Personally I've seemed to dealt with every injury in the book and I like when I can give people advice as to how to un-sore their legs or how to get swelling down. People should use common sense. "Oh you ankle hurts well hit it with a hammer and it will help."

Honestly you can find problems with any thread and this is just extra stress...

I agree to a certain extent. If it is like, 'I just broke my arm but I don't have insurance, does anyone know how I can fix it at home' I have personally never seen anything like that before though. I am sure it wouldn't be allowed if someone made it though!
But if someone says 'I have a paper cut that I don't want to get infected, does anyone know any treatments and ointments I can use?' I think those are OK. Everyone get paper cuts! Besides, you don't have to go to the emergency room for a paper cut (that I've heard of!). I think that is/should be OK.
