I understand what you're saying, but sometimes people don't realize it. For example, when the vacation section opened up, I saw it on my asian account and got all excited. I scanned through WI and didn't see anything about it. I started a thread about it and by the time I was done there were 10 more! There are thousands of people on this site so the chances of people all saying the same thing at the same time are pretty big.
Well, it does get annoying but you have to remember... POV. Or should I say Point Of View. Of course people find this eextremely annoying but some people have different views on the log in and want to express their thoughts themselves rather than on someone else's thread. Like, I honestly think I like posting on someone else's thread rather than mine. lol but some people don't.
Another thing is competition. If some makes that thread and is like.. ZOMG she got alot of reps I'm gonna make a thread like that! Or SO MANY POSTS! I'm soo making that thread over again! They sometimes do it for the things they get out of it!
Technically you are not suppose to create a new thread unless it is "new". I always try to do a quick search when I have a question. I can usually find a thread... even if it is closed... that will answer my question. I don't HAVE to post of every thread I read either so closed or not, you still find your answer. I'm on here not only to impart my knowledge but also take knowledge as well.
Once, I could not find something... an article I remember seeing about the Christmas ornaments. I found a thread that was created to put all the major recent topics in one thread (MissGnomie's)... since I still did not find what I was looking for, instead of making a new thread, I just posted on hers that it would've been nice to have found that article since it fits in the thread. She found the article at the same time I did (I continued to look for it). When I went back to give her the link so she can add it, I found her kind reply already and a link waiting for me.
If you have a question or need help check out her thread. She's put everything in one place:
I also might add that there should be ONE BASE THREAD for things like Ornament/Figurine/Charm things, Fall/Winterfest threads, because around those times the whole 1st page of chat is clogged with those threads
I too find it frustrating to have to wade through the numerous posts about the same thing. Also, it takes up space and resources on the site. I think there should be an auto merge or something with duplicate posts.
I agree! In the Somebody Help, General Discussion, and Open Mike, there are tons of threads over the same thing. Like, for example, yesterday there were tons of threads over the Token Dart Game. If those people would've taken a tiny bit of time to just see if there was another thread about the same issue, they would've gotten their answer, and not cluttered up the boards. Rep!
