Great suggestion! It would be easier! You are right people do continue to post even if it is solved.

Good suggestion! Instead of saying [SOLVED], you could also change the title to "Mods/Admins, please close!" or something like that! Rep for you!

Or once you get your answer, flag the post and ask a mod to close it.

Hmmm I'm not sure about that one, since it's not urgent to close the thread, we should probably save clicking the flag for more important things like fighting or personal info, things like that, but I'm not sure about that one!!

However... looking at the other side of the coin here:

If someone has asked a question, it's that - presumably - they don't know the answer. How can they tell if the first answer is correct? Unfortunately I've seen lots of threads where the correct answer is preceded by one, two... yes! even five! or more wrong or second-best answers. ??? The person asking the question is not in a position to know if his problem has been correctly answered. Mods do go through the forum closing answered problems.

You are quite right that there are often too many duplicate identical answers. People are trying to be helpful (and get their 50 non-fluff), but they should read all the posts in a thread before adding their identical solutions, that's for sure!

Well, I mean like, if someone asks how to put on an avatar, and the first person posts, they try it, and it works, then they would put solved in the title. If that doesn't work, then they wouldn't put solved in the title.

I'm meaning the type of threads like "How to put on an avatar?" or "How do I become Gifted?" or "What's Giftz?" the ones that have 1 answer...

I agree with webberlily too. I sometimes answer questions and forget a detail or two and someone else comes along and adds to my suggestion. It's always better to have several ideas to solve a problem.
