That shows a lot of foresight on your behalf, Wingless dream! I find that people get 'close' to others when they have been on this forum long enough. Even though we THINK those people are kind and caring, they can still hide behind their monitors and be something COMPLETELY different than what we have been lead to believe. I am so glad we have people like Justin and Wendy looking out for our best interests. I am so glad that they hold to a standard that INCLUDES EVERYONE and their security on this site. Not only is this my 'Happy Place' it is also my safe place
A moderator isn't chosen just like that. In order to be a moderator, you have be atleast 18 years old, and a member for some time. You have to be a very active member of the community. In other words, Justin isn't going to choose a user to be a moderator if they are only on once a week for 45 minutes. It's a daily thing.
Most moderators were Gift Guru's or Gift Coaches before they got nominated to become a moderator. You usually have to have Gift Exchange expirience.
This comes straight from the FAQ:
""Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other manipulations. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are moderating. In order to be a moderator, you must be an adult. In addition, you have to be an active member of the community. The way we currently do it is, when a current moderator or administrator notices someone they think is a potential candidate, they are nominated and watched for a period of time. When everyone agrees, we give them "the tap" and offer them a position. They are not required to take it, it is up to them!""
